If trading a 4th round pick for a QB from an FCS level school where he played very few games and played even less in the NFL equals “legitimately trying” that’s a concern.
I think we could have done better drafting a QB from JC.

Same, I thought Fields had legit potential and they gave him away. He was worth more than Lance. I'm not down on Lance either. He's an unknown as far as I'm concerned. I'll wait to see him in the preseason before I begin to form any conclusions. Fields has actually had some runs or production. I can't not see him as the better prospect.
Yeah I have heard zero on how Lance has looked. Where did that report come from that said he looked terrible?

We paid the most for the QB who has done the least from that ‘21 draft.

Lance has reportedly shown little to nothing in practice so far in his time in Dallas.

We won’t have a 4th round pick in a draft where gurus are saying there will be plenty of 3rd round grades available in the 4th rd.

To put a cherry on top, we’re probably going to end up losing Lance for nothing after this season.

Shambolic front office.

Yeap like I said that was stupid trade. Jerry and his son needs to give it playing charades as if he's a bonafide NFL GM.

That does not explain why he was demoted to 3rd string. Nice try.

The Fields trade is the one that gets me the most.

In retrospect that Lance trade looks horrendous. Still time to make it work though. If he is a throwaway it will go down as one of Jerry’s dumbest moves.
It was always horrendous.

Kind of like Dak going deep into the playoffs eh??

A 4th round pick throwaway is not a top 20 scratcher given how many dumb things Jerry has done to the Cowboys. Maybe Top 30 but we don't know the definitive outcome yet either
You don't know the out come yet.

No it is crap on GM Jethro for making the dump trade. Kid never had a chance to play and everyone knew that from day 1.
Well that trade was made over a year ago how much longer are we going to cry about it?

this is how i know you do no research and just post junk...

https://www.the33rdteam.com/49ers-locker-room-reaction-to-trey-lance-trade/

there is another article by former 49er coach Mike Martz who also says this - i'm not even going to post it you can go look it up yourself but this is just to show you that you need to use google or change your bias

https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2024/01/23/brock-purdy-tom-brady-49ers-patriots-kyle-shanahan/#:~:text=Brock Purdy was told that,Tom Brady out of retirement.&text=Brock Purdy seems to have,13 on his jersey.

here is brock being asked to potentially take a backseat if they can land tom brady. At this point i don't even think you are a fan... you might be an eagles fan or something lol
NFL teams trade talent because they are like by their teammates and don't want competition.

You go ahead and believe that story.

Purdy's injury was the 49ers last game of the 2022 season and he was healthy by the time the 2023 started, so he didn't miss games. He's only missed 1 start since he first became the starter, and that was the last game of the regular season last year that had no playoff implications.

Lance's injury was the 2nd game of the 2022 season, so it necessitated him missing a lot of games.

As for Darnold, keep in mind the context of my comments was responding to the claim the Cowboys paid more for the QB that has done the least from the 2021 draft. I didn't suggest Lance wowed everyone in SF, just that there were other QB's from the 2021 that have not done as much as Lance and that cost a higher draft pick than the Cowboys used to trade for Lance
So if I hearing you correctly they were all healthy including Darnold and Trance finished in 3rd place.

QB IS THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION IN FOOTBALL!!

Obviously you don't get it and NEVER will. Lance was low cost potential high reward. End of story.
We’ll know the “cost” by what kind of NFL player the 124th pick in the draft turns out to be.

No....not "everyone" cries about having elite QB. Paying non-elite elite money might be a problem for some.

I just don't get why some people make up falsehoods to validate their argument.

And Trey hasn;t played out just yet. We haven;t double down with him like we do so many. I don;t get why he doesn;t get...if not your support but your patience about it. He is a Dallas Cowboy...are your for the players or not?
there are a lot of people crying about having an elite QB. many many many say we need to draft, go chase that elusive Elite QB.

and what is elite money? people are going to say Dak wanting 60M, but that's an assumption on their part with angers towards Dak. please don't confuse the 60M cap hit with being paid elite Money. I know you know better than that.

right now there are 12 QBs making 40M and more. is that elite money? by whose definition? fans tend to set their own standards of what is elite and what's not.

and I don't disagree that Troy hasn't played out. but my whole point is what do you realistically expect? if he had elite ability then that would already surface. it hasn't. most probably won't (I gave it a 10% chance).
so we end up with another average QB. what result do you expect to get with an average QB that we already haven't seen?
if we decide to keep him he will cost 25M in 2025. no chump change. and people now of course arguing we can get so many FAs and build a team. and none of them has shown me one FA we could have wanted and not being able to sign them (its a choice, not a constraint, although in 2024 I agree we are constraint because we are trying to move on from Dak).

You need to find a larger pool of data to go off of. Yes the Cowboys have had some success in the 4th round in recent years, but overall the 4th round has roughly a 10-20% hit rate depending on the year and how you define what a hit really is. Over half of 4th round picks are out of the league altogether by year 4. The odds of a 4th rounder making a pro bowl even once in their career is less than 10%.
well, I am going back to 10 years of cowboys picking in the 4th. as opposed to 31 other teams picking in the 4th.

and so its picking a position of need with 10% chance of success (RB, WR, DT, LB, OL, DE) and contributors. vs. a 10% chance of success to get an average QB at best, which we all don't like to begin with.
