......yet every time they tried to slide someone into Emmitt's spot, they failed (miserably). Emmitt will get his due but you have to admit, that was a bad *** O-line. A case can be made that it was the best unit in the history of the game (to this point).

It was the greatest OL of all time EXCEPT when they were blocking for anyone not named Emmitt Smith.

Only to those who are all about stats.
I've spent the offseason watching a bunch of games from the 90s. Troy would be playing so well and then his stats would flash on the screen and I'd think to myself " it doesn't feel as if those stats accurately portray what's happening on the field. Aikman sacrificed the state he could have had in favor of a scheme/philosophy that was very effective at winning games. The Oline and Emmitt were good enough to shorten the games and not allow Troy to accumulat the stats of Favre or Young.

What made Troy so effective was his accuracy. He maximized every snap that he had throwing the ball.

Aikman was overrated only to those who are into stats. He didn't have big numbers because the offense and team he played for didn't require him to have big numbers. Other than the numbers he had HOF written all over his career. He had great accuracy, leadership and came up big in the playoffs and SB. He outgunned 3 future FIRST BALLOT HOF QBs in the playoffs and SB that resulted in a Cowboys dynasty that dominated the 90s. He was 7-1 vs Favre, Young and Kelly during the postseason.

As for Romo, I don't know where you get that he's been overrated. Most Cowboy FANS over the years think he's been underrated due to his big numbers and career passer rating. The QB rankings that have been posted on the board over the years have caused many to complain that he hasn't been ranked high enough. A majority of the experts over the years have seldom thought of Romo as an elite top 5 QB. The QBs they've ranked ahead of Romo all have better playoff records and at least one ring.

I don't think either is overrated. I was trying to be slightly sarcastic while making a point- some fans are never happy. I'm positive Romo would trade being the third highest rated passer in NFL history for a championship. And I'm also certain Aikman could care less about his career numbers.
