The problem is Dak doesn't want a market value contract, he wants a market SETTING contract, which is what paying him 60 mil a season would do. It would eclipse every other contract in NFL history by a large margin, and he simply doesn't deserve that. Mahomes is the only one who has earned that, and Dak thinks he should be paid more than a 4 time super bowl champion.
Can't say it any better than that. I think Dak's greed actually exceeds his inability to win post season games.

Umm not a hater. Actually have been pretty fair with the guy. I’m pretty off and on. He just sounds like player Garrett with a bunch of platitudes while losing big games. Stop talking brotherhood and do better. But you keep being the bitter dude who think he knows everyone and you can collect likes from the anger crowd. Enjoy your Saturday
Dude, you’ve been hating on him for awhile who are you kidding?

I just think whether its Romo or Dak, the GM is creating the ceiling for our success. I honestly dont think we could mk a deep playoff run w Mahomes as our QB because the Jones micromanagement does so much damage to the team. Our hc is a joke no matter who takes the job. They have no power as players answer directly to Jerry. Thats a flawed foundation and Jerry still thinks he can win this way. He cant and he wont regardless who is playing QB.
I’ve said many times that I don’t think we could get far even with Mahomes because of the many issues the team has in the playoffs primarily with the defense.

Maybe they just don't want to.
They want to because they have nothing behind him, but it’s looking like Dak doesn’t want to. The Cowboys have made offers but Stephen said the other day it’s up to Dak.

This is pretty much spot on. They seem to be using house rules. The 90s Cowboys won because there was an effort to put the better team on the field. That clearly isn't the priority right now.

But if we're talking about ridiculous QBs like Mahomes, or Brady and Manning in their prime, I think they would put us a notch higher. Not sure about a SB, but I think championship game at least. QBs like Romo, Stafford types, and especially Dak, they're not good enough to make up for Jerry's house rules.

Look at Rodgers with the Packers after 2010. Little effort to put the better team on the field by management. They put it all on Rodgers.

Jerry paid Romo like he was producing like Peyton Manning and fans lapped it up. I don’t recall fans having such a bold reaction towards Romo’s big payday. It was actually a lot of celebrating among fans. Double standard.

Again, Dak or any other nfl QBs deserves to be paid what the market value says he’s worth. I’m sorry you’re unhappy that Dak will likely get $60 mill a year but that’s what the market value is for a top ten QB who was second in MVP voting.

I think you are also buying in to the Jones boy’s double talk about the salary cap. They are one of the worst in the NFL at managing the salary cap and their post season record speaks for itself. Nothing in Dallas resembles any other NFL franchise because the Jones model doesn’t produce a team capable of a deep playoff run, but you already knew that.
Agreed on the double standard being exposed against Dak than what was shown by fans towards Romo when Jerry gave Romo a top overall contract.

I don't agree Cowboys QBs deserve top overall pay, especially when they fail to lead their teams anywhere close to a playoff championship game, but I agree there is definitely a double standard among fans of certain Cowboys QBs.

I never said he balled out, I said he never gave up. Big difference. You haters know a lot about giving up.
Why are posters like Rockport allowed to lie over and over again with no repercussions?

Rockport literally said yesterday that Dak “kept balling” in the playoff game. Another poster has already called her out on this earlier in this thread.

Stop with the lies Rockport! Have an ounce of dignity please.

He's overly optimistic. I can't really fault him for that. But it was pretty clear what happened in that game. Once the game was over, the Cowboys loosened up. Along with the Packers backing off on D. It's a lot easier to play better once the pressure is off. When all is already lost, and you have no more to lose, all of the stress is gone, and you play better.

Baloney. He wasn't this greedy at first.

If anything, Jerry's repeated franchise tags in back-to-back years after Dak's rookie contract came to an end is what made Dak become a greedy player.
I'm not defending Dak here, but if the Cowboy's didnt want to invest long-term with him and franchised tagged him not once, but twice...............why should he do the organization a solid and take a team friendly deal:huh:

Dak has every right to ask for whatever the hell he wants, Dallas has every right to either accept or reject his demands. I dont see how one party is being "greedy" and the other party (the Cowboys) are saints all of a sudden.

All true, but Dak is smart enough to know if he truly wants a team good enough to help him reach a championship game or super bowl, he (Dak) would be willing to take a little less to help the team keep or bring better talent to help this team go further in the playoffs.

Since Dak is refusing, he is straight out proving reaching a championship game or super bowl don't mean as much to him as getting a record setting contract.

Correct???

Why wouldn’t a player attempt to optimize their market value?

Like a couple million a year is going to be enough for our dysfunctional ownership build a championship team. Lol
Exactly..........do I think Dak is worth $60 million a year?.................No, I dont..............But I dont blame any player for trying to get as much money as they can before they break one too many bones (see Romo).

If Dak feels $60 a year is his actual value and that some team in the NFL will pay him that (not necessarily the Cowboys), why the hell should he accept an offer less than that?

I am just curious if the posters here that think Dak should take less are volunteering at their places of employment to take less money "for the good of the company" knowing that if the company misses their earnings per share one quarter you might be in the next round of layoffs...................I highly doubt it.

Just like with Dak after the playoff loss to Green Bay, fans wanted Romo gone after the season finale loss to Washington that knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs in 2012. Romo was up for a new contract extension and very few fans wanted to pay him. I wish I could find the thread where it was suggested we should trade him to KC for the number one overall pick. Most fans were on board with it. There was a lot of Romo bashing going on after the horrible performance he had against Washington. I had the same argument about Romo I’m having about Dak now. We can’t move on until we have a better option or we’ll be stuck without a QB. We may not have any choice with Dak because he’s got all the leverage and may want to test free agency. This could be our last season with stability at QB for quite some time. Cowboys Nation better brace themselves.
Ooooh so afraid...

you brace yourself then. I'd be welcoming it. I don't need his replacement now. I just need the commitment to rebuild. How many QBs did Dallas draft with their #1 pick in those post Aikman years? How many trades did Jerry do to get a good #1 draft? Jerry thought he could get away cheap and it backfired for about 30 years now.

Sorry, but this is an absolute bogus argument from the Daksters.

Yes, but you just described 95% of the players in the NFL................how do you think teams like the Tennessee Titans sign free agents every offseason when they have literally 0% chance to win the SB this year???

Other than Tom Brady, name me one superstar player that takes below market contracts.

No, I wouldn't. You don't know me. I would get enough but give some back to surround myself with good talent. Don't tell me $50 million/year is not enough for any QB right now.
$50 million a year is obviously not enough for these QBs.

Trever Lawrence.......$55 a year
Joe Burrow................$55 a year
Jordon Love..............$55 a year
Tua............................$53 a year
Justin Herbert............$53 a year
Lamar Jackson..........$52 a year
Jalen Hurts................$51 a year

Do these QBs not care about winning???..................They obviously thought $50 million a year was below their market value..............so are they not "team players"???
