Yeah...that's it.

It's Troy being Troy. Was practice convoluted in the Parcells era? Y'know..that was within the past 20 years.

It wasn't. Troy is a joke and likes the publicity he gets for bashing the Cowboys. And like I said, a former teammate of Troy's told me the exact opposite a few years ago. He just doesn't have an ax to grind like Troy.

YR

He is talking about organizational management and practices, not the practices involving players and coaches.

Its about time Troy called this organization out. Now, if we could only get Michael to drop the rabid homer act.....

He's talking about the Forbidden Zone, ironically the only one that really matters in the end. Until we get a qualified and independent GM, we will never achieve any sustainable success.

Irvin did pick the Eagles to win the East before last season. So there's that.

We need a qualified coach more so.

I think you're making excuses for Troy.

He said practices. He didn't mention anything else and I don't know why anybody would interpret it any differently.

You know guy, you have never agreed with a single thing that I have posted or responded to yourself. Naw, this is your world, Pal...I'll never respond to you again.

"I don't know," said Aikman. "This team, for 20 years, really has been so inconsistent. And unless practices change, I don't see that changing any time soon. You look back at last year and 12-4 and get excited about that, but was 12-4 really what this team is or is 8-8? I don't think 4-12 is this year because of the injuries that occurred.

"But you've got to do it more than once every seven or eight years before you can say, 'Hey, the things that we're doing are really paying off.' It's been a long history of frustration and up-and-down years, and, for the most part, disappointment.

"And I think you've got to be able to look back on something and say, 'OK, we're building something here and these things that we do pay off,' but I haven't seen that, so I don't anticipate any time soon anything being any different from what we've seen the last 20 years."

Aikman has seemed bitter at the Cowboys since they passed on Norv as HC twice. Is it just me thats seen this?

Yeah, that's what I got. He's basically saying the 20 year draught is due to overall mistakes and poor management and that there has to be a shift in how they think and do things or this stuff will just continue to repeat itself.

He also didn't say they were an 8-8 team. He asked the question, which many here have asked, is this team really a 12-4 quality franchise or did they just have that one magic season and are really nothing more than an 8-8 franchise. It's a valid question to ask.

exactly, well said.
he also said he doesnt see it changing, and since no changes or the right changes, we wont be in another SB
anytime soon.
I see it the same way, they will get in playoffs, but be eliminated by better teams, just like in
recent past.

It would be a refreshing change to see this organization stop playing catch up and stop trying to copy other successful teams and finally develop a real plan of success and stick to it.

Jerry has been doing this for years. It's a copycat league and each year a new team comes into the spotlight with a new formula and then we chase our version of creating that for a season....

Going all in on pass rush last year was a reaction to 1 game in Greenbay.
This year we will probably go all in on QB to avoid this seasons failures.
Next year it will be something else that fell apart or failed and we will spend the offseason going "balls out" fixing this hole.

Thats what the jones boys do every year, they "fix" things, even if they dont need fixing.

If they have a plan it isnt working, 5 year plan with jg is up so I dont think they had a time plan or even a general plan
that was specific.
JG has mantra's and the process, but no real plan, and even if he did I dont know that jones boys would
go along with it.

I don't usually agree with Troy because he's nothing more than a closet Eagle's fan. But this time I tend to agree with him. I do think the team practices hard. I just don't think they practice the right things for the right situations. Coaching needs to change things up to better utilize the talent they got. Garrett doesn't do that at all. Thus were seeing the results of bad play each and every game.

Tom Landry said it best:

"Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about acheiving it and staying with that plan."

....Staying with that plan. That's the Cowboys problem. No matter how well its implemented, its just a matter of time before Jerry Jones reacts to a specific circumstance and deviates from the plan, thus weakening it and eventually destroying it.

The "right kind if guys"....Greg Hardy?

"Obtaining proper value in the draft"...Morris Claiborne?

Add in drafting a TE in the 2nd round every couple of years and not using the two tight-end set on offense.

Exactly........who the hell does that?

2nd round picks should be starters, not bench warmers..........no vision, no philosophy, just draft a TE to copy the Pats and then change our mind.

When you run a franchise like that, you can expect to not win anything for 20 years so either change or keep sucking......that is the point Troy is making.
