This team has one of the best if not the best offensive lines in the NFL (still). Unfortunately, it doesn't have an identity or toughness that allows them to be successful. I would blame lack of preparation, unwillingness to make changes and more importantly weak *** practices which do nothing to make this team better. Our lack of scoring in the red zone is a direct reflection of this. JG and the playbook need to be thrown out with the garbage. This league is about adjustments, something we can't seem to do year to year much less half to half. Our playbook is as old as JG and the rest of the league knows it.

Umm, "showed up to camp out of shape" that is what I am referring too. And for the record, he isn't the only guy in the NFL that had to have IVS this season. Pretty sure Cam Newton had to have some IVs done during a game this season is he out of shape also? Do you have any idea how common an in game IV is in football? Half of these guys are getting IVs at halftime. But sure, lets make Dez the pariah of our team. Give me a break

I get you idolize the guy but you missed my point entirely. Sure players get IVs. But after the first thirty minutes of the first game of the season?
Did he appear season ready to you? Did he play like he was ready? His injury was to his foot, not his hands.

Lesson learned? Don't Monkey around during pre-game.

No preseason work or TC either, but w.e, your right I do like Dez hes one of my favourite players on the team. I get you don't like him, and you want to discredit what he has done thus far in his career which is also fine. It just amazes me how other fans here want to forget all about all the things hes done and give him problems because he bought a monkey lol

I agree with the OP here. It's not the monkey, per sec, but it's a symptom of the level of distraction we had here this season. Injuries. Contracts. Monkeys. Suspensions. Unnecessary RB drama. It all added up to a lack of focus.

We might have stabilized eventually with Romo healthy and if we somehow fixed the takeaway mystery, but it was not to be.

Drives me bananas.

Very reminiscent of 2008.

Choice of pet animal has little to do with players performance. Dez wasn't healthy (still isn't) and his confidence was thrown off. He didn't report to camp in good shape and also missed a bunch of practices with his foot. He never got into sinc. Add the fact that he had four different QB's and I think we can come up with more factors than a pet monkey to explain his performance.

Troy did not hung the problem at the choice of an animal. I find the article interesting because it has substance. Read again and try to understand what he said.

Dez is a great player. I've always liked him but he just was not ready for the season. I had a feeling that would happen when negotiations went into summer and Dez threatened to hold out. He might as well have because he wasn't ready to play. I'm sure he'll be ready to play next year but this year was just a wasted season.

The more interesting part to me was that Aikman said the 'locker room was just in complete disarray'...and mentions Oronde Gadsden having a monkey as one example.

Aren't locker rooms supposed to be largely policed by the players who are team leaders? Gadsden was a rookie undrafted free agent in 1995 (the only season he was with the Cowboys). So an undrafted rookie did whatever he wanted to do in a locker room that included 6 future HOF'ers (Aikman, Allen, Smith, Irvin, Sanders, Haley)...and also guys like Novacek, Woodson, Nate Newton, Tuinei, Williams, Johnston, Bates, Hennings, etc.? I find that more disturbing personally. Also interesting, was that guys like Irvin, Sanders, Haley, etc...had their own issues. Gadsden also reportedly credited Irvin with helping to teach him how to play WR.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought coaches were supposed to police locker rooms.

I don't confuse anything with free speech. This is a private web page, with specific rules. I have ZERO problem with that. I swear some of you, would stereotype Mother Theresa if it made you look better. If a rule was posted that states that we can't discuss any current or former player, that would be the rule, and most of us would follow it. However, since some of the current rules are as confusing as the "catch rule", why don't put on your Blandino mask and clarify it for us.

Because it's already explicitly clear and because you're the only one apparently confused by it.

I can't both explain it and understand it for you. You have to do your part, I'm afraid.

Read the existing explanations. They're sufficient.

You need a dictionary in order to understand what substance means because this article clearly did not have substance. OG brought his monkey into the locker room. Has Dez ever done that? All and all, a fluff peice. I stand by my original comments.

Exactly, thank you. You prove to the real world that there really are people who think that yesterdays game deserves to be discussed. LOL.....How can you seriously discuss yesterdays game? Sure, you can talk about KM, and the "big shot" he got, but to talk about yesterdays game would be like talking about a preseason game from 2004, they might as well not have played it. Draft? Go to the draft board. Hope of next season? Yea, like the hope of the last 20? We will all have hope again next September. At least for a month or so. It doesn't matter what the topic or thread is. Most of y'all will find a way to "poo-poo" it....

If you don't want to discuss yesterday's game, then don't. Need to rant? There is a rant zone. What are you struggling with here? If you are just compelled to criticize Jerry/Garrett in every thread you open, you should probably take a break from the forums and football in general.

Actually, there is an idea. How about heading to the NFL zone is discussing football there. The NFL season is still going, a lot of interesting teams and playoffs right around the corner. Head to the off-topic zone and discuss something outside of football. If you're struggling this much with the "banned topics", like I said, you have an agenda you want to be spamming the boards with.
