Scares me as well......I will not give BP all the blame this is something JJ should have taken care 9-10 years ago.

Should have been grooming a QB around 1998

1998 Matt Hasselbeck Rd 6
2000 marc bulger, Tom Brady Rd 6 :bang2:

2001 Drew brees rd 2 we took Quincy :(

Yeah but this year is different. There are alot of good quality tackles and experts are rating the top five completely different. If Marcus McNeil makes it to us, BP must pull the trigger. Besides, sometimes rookies can make a good contribution. The 3 year rule is just applied so you don't label someone a bust too quickly.

I wouldn't touch mcNeil and his back problems with a long pole.

Me I pick up Tom Ashworth, LJ Shelton or a scott gragg in FA and draft OLine in Rd 2 or 3

From the article I read recently......Romo seems ready as far as confidence..if that translates to mentally and physically then we are in good shape. We can only hope.;)

Seems both QBs are getting antsy to play

Man I can't believe we drafted Quincy Carter. Then Tyrone Biggums has the audacity to file a complaint against the Cowboys, he should have given Jerry Jones a refund check. Should have known better than to draft that guy, during his interview he sounded dumb as hell.

I remember hearing that too Cb, but I think that is Parcels way of leaveing the club in good condition when he does leave. Its not just about now. With this draft being deep in Oline and LBs,keep building both sides of the ball.We will see if the scouting dept. got lucky last year or if they really can pick the right talent for us. Sure hope so...

I think we finish the D this season and get good a start on the O.

Who knows? some of those finishing touches, on D, may already be on the roster.....Ratliff, Kalen Thornton etc.

Most sites say he has back problems, one said something about congenital narrowing in his spine

This is the 2nd time someone has mentioned McNeils back, some truth to this? or rumor? Seems to me he is a perfect fit for us, but that is why we have a scouting dept. They will do their homework and leave the picks to Jerry and Bill.
It sure is fun to speculate though!!!!!

BP may in later rounds draft a WR and Olineman...but he is still in the quick fix mode for the offensive side of the ball

Not with our Statue as our QB. although we have a really bad O-line, he still gives up too many sacks that are his fault when he does have time

I'd rather have a sack then a pick or fumble. Maybe when you think he should throw the ball, he sees a hand in his throwing lane or somebody sitting back watching his eyes.

I, too, think BP will go into FA for one or more OL guys due to the time it takes them to develop. I also think he'll draft one to bring on slowly.

One of the most devastating results of years of bad drafting is a lack of depth accross the board. It is too expensive to use FA dollars for depth. This is really at the heart of our problem. If we could have remained healthy at OL and LB, I believe we would have been very tough to beat in the playoffs. If we can have a couple more strong drafts we will be on our way towards many winning seasons with the 2005 draft class being the core of our defense.

It's not like BP didn't try to fix the line. Al Johnson, Stephen Peterman, and Jacob Rogers. I'll count last year as Peterman's rookie year and this year as Johnson's 3rd year. It tells you something about Peterman since Rivera was brought in in the first place. I hope the organization gives Rogers another shot. Maybe in his 3rd year he can turn it on. At least don't cut him until after the preseason when the final cuts are due. I would rather have a healthy Rogers and a healthy Colombo as our backup tackles. Pettitti and Tucker should be moved to guard.

Agreed. Most of the sacks were the fault of the O-line, but a veteran qb still has to make more plays than he does and more importantly, not lose games as Bledsoe in Seattle. The sacks do reflect poorly on the O-line, but the poor reads and bad throws and decisions reflect on Bledsoe, and so do the fumbles.

Those qb's all went to better franchises than the Cowboys. Bulger had Marshall Faulk and Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce, Brees had Antonio Gates and Tomlinson and Brady had a better overall team in place when he got there and he had a year to sit the bench and learn from a experienced veteran. Hasselbeck had Darrell Jackson, Koren Robinson, a solid offensive line and Shaun Alexander in the backfield, not to mention the fact that Holmren,Vermeil/Martz and Belichik are > than Campo/Riley/Coslet.

People give other qb's credit for their coaching staffs and supporting casts and blame Carter for coming to Dallas to a bad situation. Quincy took Dallas to the playoffs, just as those other qb's did and with a weaker supporting cast and they still brought in people to replace him, despite the fact that he finished 12th in the NFL in passing yardage. Had Bill brought in a half way decent RB and a possession receiver, Carter would have finished in the top 10 in passing yardage, thrown over 20 td passes and we would have won at least 12 games. My projections are based on the fact that Cowboy's receivers dropped 29 passes that year and Hambrick finished with only 5 td runs in 2003 and 0 td runs in the last 8 games. That made us so one dimensional that our play action wouldn't work in the second half of the season.

Parcells will do his best to put the finishing touches on this team for 2006 as he prepares to address the offensive side of the ball.

Most of us would agree he did a very good job of bringing in talent, through the draft and free agency, to revamp the defense in 2005.

Do you think he will, or will not, have the same success for the offensive side of the ball in 2006?

No, he wont cause he doesn't know how. If he did, this team would have been back to the playoffs by now. Lovie Smith has gotten his team into the playoffs in 2 years with no qb at all. Gibbs has gotten his team into the playoffs in 2 years and won a playoff game without nearly the talent that Dallas has. Coughlin too has gotten his team into the playoffs in 2 years and won the division title vacated by the demise of the Eagles. His qb play is not nearly as good as what we have and his defense has lots of warts too, but he got it done anyway. It's not going to get any easier because we now have 4 quality head coaches in the NFC East and a really tough schedule in 2006 and a starting qb who doesn't win many games, let alone big games and no backup qb's worth mentioning.
