Noodle arm was fortunate to not throw a few INTs.
He really was I’m really shocked to see so many people upset lol. He’s do limited he’s ok for a small stretch…his arm doesn’t allow for consistency especially in this offense. How bad is Lance truly…..

The call is fine as long as you dont commit a penalty going for the block. It works out perfectly if your professional football player knows the rules he's paid millions to know. Inexcusable.

Was a block called or did we just have a guy break thorough? Didn't look like we were coming after it intentionally.
That was my thought. Where is this evidence that Fassel specifically schemed for the block. But even if he did, so what. What does the executed block have to do with the bone-headed mistake that followed? That's like complaining over Rush completing a 25-yard pass to CD who subsequently fumbles and then fans questioning why didn't we run the football instead to take more time off the clock.

Disagree set up a return to Turpin he can probably get it midfield then you only need 1 1st down to kick a fg, fake punt makes no sense
So you think it is more likely that a return will get you to the same position on the field?

How many punts had been returned to midfield prior?

Zero issue if they had a block call on. I understand the argument against it, but the best time to put one on is also when the other team thinks you'll be playing it safe. I also doubt that Cincinnati is going to give Turpin an opportunity to win the game there either. I'm sure they would have happily sacrificed 5-10 yards on the punt to kick it high or out of bounds.

The issue is a player who simply lacked fundamental awareness on special teams. If not for the touch after the block we are all taking about Fassel being a genius again.
How can this even be a discussion?

2 minutes left and they are punting. We have the best punt returner in the NFL and the best FG kicker who can hit from 70. Why would you risk trying to block the kick????........ and then the players don't know the rules?
Because they likely would have angled away from Turpin and two, the offense is no guarantee to be able to move the ball 20 yards to get into long FG range.

It's still the safer play. When you go for a blocked punt, you bring in the running into the kicker penalties, let alone the fluke play that happened.

The best bet was letting their punter sweat trying to avoid Turpin and seeing if we can gain 20 yards on their defense. We were not having trouble moving the ball. We had over 300 yards of offense and ran the ball at will pretty much.

Going for the block was the right play.. period point blank. Dallas offense isn't trustworthy to go 40 yards down the field and put us in scoring range.
No it’s not it’s 3rd and 30 you don’t take the risk of roughing the kicker period in that situation .If we had roughed the kicker you guys would be all over the call !

....with tied game and you have one of best kickers in NFL.

Who the hell comes up with these plays? ...lol..

They deserve to lose, all I can say.
They didn't call for the block punt. It's not like they rushed 10 on a designed blocked punt play. They were able to just break through and block it. Was he not supposed to block it? Everyone in the world knows you don't touch the ball after that. IF AO didn't touch the ball then they milk the clock and kick the field goal for the win.

They didn't, they didn't rush 10. A guy broke through so of course you try to block it. This coaching staff is below average but that was not on them.

It doesn’t sound like we were set up for a blocked punt. It appears we set up to return the punt and just had a guy come through untouched because Cincinnatti blew an assignment. It appears the staff played for the return and we had a guy just luckily come through untouched and block the kick.

Talk about an ironic turn of events. A boneheaded mistake by a Bengal blocker led to a fortunate, for them, boneheaded mistake by a ST player for us. It literally won them the game.
