I don't get it. He did block the punt. If not for a stupid decision to try to field the blocked punt the Cowboys would get the ball in great position to set up a game winning FG. The problem was not the decision to block the punt. It was the decision to try to field that ball. A fraction of an inch more and Vigil blocks the ball backwards.

The Cowboys this year can't seem to avoid stupid decisions on the field.
.yep, unfortunately

You have Turpin on the return and you try to block a punt? that makes no sense, This coaching staff is just bad.

The soft zone Zimmer uses is terrible you are taking away your top CB's by having them play too far off the ball so its hard to get interceptions
Mistake and error many are thinking is that an all out block punt was called by Bones..

Even jerry is mistakenly errant on this.

The punt blocker No.41 simply beat his man on the line and blocked it....AO just panicked and tried to pick it up.

Going for the block was the right play.. period point blank. Dallas offense isn't trustworthy to go 40 yards down the field and put us in scoring range.
Exactly right. There's NEVER a bad time to successfully block a punt. Period.

The blame lies solely on the one person in all of AT&T Stadium who wasn't aware that you should stay the hell away from that football

I understand people are not excited about our coaching and I think there is some Merit to that but on that particular play there was one mistake by one man and it cost us the game. End of story

Punt block was not called, the kid made what he thought was a great play
It was a great play. Feel terrible for him. He did something great and was robbed of being able to celebrate it because of someone else's bad mistake

The way you know this discussion is moronic is that, had the blocked punt simply been downed by the Bengals, and the Cowboys then kick a FG to win it owing to the short field, would anyone here even be questioning the play? No way. The reality is had that happened, there would be long threads on what a heads up play it was to block the punt.

It was just moronic to call a block there, anytime Fassel calls a fake a punt of block punt it never works he's a terrible ST coach that takes unnecessary risk

Aubrey is your FG kicker . Your offense doesn’t have to get far to give him a chance to win the game . This situation screamed SET up the RETURN ,

Watching Fassel these past few years he coaches with these gambles to make a name for himself . A few games back Brian Anger on a 4th & 9 is asked to throw for a first down on a fake punt . Of course it went nowhere. and the blame after the game was placed on Juanyeh Thomas doorstep holy smokes ?

The good news . MM Fassel the WR coach Prince the coaches should be accountable for this dumpster fire at seasons end .

....with tied game and you have one of best kickers in NFL.

Who the hell comes up with these plays? ...lol..

They deserve to lose, all I can say.
well the previous two drives for cowboys had netted 13 total yards in the 4th quarter with one first down. so if they punt from 29, lets say its a 45 yard punt. then we are on the 25 or at best 30 with any return...
didn't look good based on what they did and their offense was racking up yards and controlling the clock. so OT didn't look good for us if it came down to that. specially with Beebe and Overshown out as well.

and you go for the punt block. if it works, great...but the issue was stupidity of the players...freaking leave it alone. but this team plays too much hero ball instead of being smart.

this is on the special teams coach. same thing happened against commanders in the last kick off. just freaking fall on the ball instead of scoring and giving the ball back to commanders and perhaps them scoring on another miracle.

this team is not very smart. the special teams is not overly smart.

How did this guy make NFL. That info should be common knowledge among them.

No theres alot that can go wrong on blocked punt, one of which happened. 4th and 26 your getting the ball back in good field position, he cant kick it short because of that so he's kicking to Turpin. If you dont think Turpin is a good returner then why is even on the team? That situation was made for his speciality. You cant take any chances there, set up a return and allow your fast PR to get some yards.

And once you get the ball back Aubrey can win the game with a 60 yarder . My goodness coaches should play to the strengths of the roster not depend on “ blocking a punt “

Have we gotten so far into revisionism that people are now trying to say blocking a punt is bad? This is insane.

Uneducated fans probably thought asking Brian Anger to throw Dallas into a first down on a 4th & 9 fake punt a few games ago was also a good decision .

Let’s take the Bengals game out of the hands of Turpin & Aubrey and hand it over to the Kamikaze squad .

Problem is Rush went noodle arm on prior possessions and no run game
Thank you, I've been a huge supporter of Rush, but after last night's lousy game I think we need to see Lance the rest of the way. Rush looks like an old man playing a young man's sport.

Traded a 4 for an “ emergency QB “ . Another bright move .
