I was listening to those sounds from the sidelines clips and Trysten Hill seems to be fitting in well with the team, making some plays, and having fun out there, which can help a player make plays.

With all the negativity towards him before preseason, I'm glad to see him finally coming around as a player.

The NFL isn't easy, and fans are often impatient when it comes to outcomes from a player.

I'm personally loving what the defensive line is bringing lately as a whole, and Hill is part of that.
its a contract year....so milk it.

Yes, these morons talk about all the rush yards but have no clue where the yards are being picked up. For the most part the interior defense has been very solid against the run.

Right.

The intellectual laziness we see from some fans is pretty funny.

Like, if I'm wrong, I usually come around and see it pretty quick, just come clean.

Some people double down on being wrong, which I find funny.

I disagree, add Big BO in there and as a group they've been far better than fans TRY to evaluate. Most of the big gashing runs are coming to the outside where the LBs and Safety along with the occasional DB are not getting it done consistently.

both the run game and pass rush has been better then expected from the middle of the DL.

Absolutely.

I find myself agreeing with you more and more lately.

It’s incredibly lazy to just blame one unit for why we are getting gashed against the run.
Absolutely. As has been already pointed out, most of the successful runs against us this year have been to the outside. That’s not on the DTs. It’s on the ends to set the edge and the LBers and safetys to clean up. Most inside runs against us have been handled well. Of course we’re not going to stuff them all, but no team will.

Hey check this out. We got a fan Mensa meeting here diving into the hidden impact of career bum Trysten Hill.

It's only for those who refuse to see it. People watching objectively can see the kid playing well. If you're so dug in on your "he's not any good and he never will be" take that you refuse to acknowledge good play that's your problem. You're entitled to your opinion, but It carries no weight here. Especially when it runs completely contrary to what the facts say.

There's another member.

See, if you stand at the right angle at the right time of day and squint into the sun you'll see Trysten Hill's quality play.

Someone ask this genius what exactly the facts are. Post those facts.

Already did.. if you were actually interested you would have read them.. and I am not inclined to waste time repeating myself to someone who isn't inclined to hear what is being said anyway.

I hope his actual play causes us to talk positively about Hill, instead of his sideline clips. I am with you OP. I would love to see him breakout.

Didn't say he wasn't. I said what i would have done. I've been wrong on plenty of occasions. But we've also seen that coaches can be wrong as well. We'll see how it turns out.

The fact that 75-80% of Washington's rush yards came on the outside tells me all I need to know about what Hill and his mates are doing at DT. And the one thing Hill does more consistently than any of the other DTs on this roster is get penetration. His first step explosion is problem for offensive linemen and he plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage far more than the other guys do. He will occasionally get greedy trying to make a play and get out of his lane but if you watch carefully you will see that he's nearly always relocating the line scrimmage against his man. The other guys do it as well but not as frequently as Hill.

I'd have to go back and look, but I think Hill plays less on run downs than the other DTs. He does have first-step explosion, which is what got him drafted in the second round, but he doesn't really do much with it. Other DTs on the team with less athletic talent get more pressure than he does. He gets a fewer snaps per game than the others (except Golston) when he was expected to provide much more than that.

Hill was supposed to be a 3-tech pass rusher, a guy who could get into the backfield and be disruptive. We have not seen that.

Well, I can see that both are happening. That's what I'm saying. That he's playing well, as far as I see. But not only that, he's on the team, and buying into the current McCarthy-led culture and messaging.

Hill looks better this year but overall the DT crew of Gallimore, Hill and OO…..two 3rd round picks and a 2nd…have disappointed thus far.

People like to say the FO doesn’t value the position but the draft capital spent says otherwise. They just haven’t hit. There’s time.
They need to go first round pick and get one of the top 3 at the position
