I'd have to go back and look, but I think Hill plays less on run downs than the other DTs. He does have first-step explosion, which is what got him drafted in the second round, but he doesn't really do much with it. Other DTs on the team with less athletic talent get more pressure than he does. He gets a fewer snaps per game than the others (except Golston) when he was expected to provide much more than that.
Hill was supposed to be a 3-tech pass rusher, a guy who could get into the backfield and be disruptive. We have not seen that.
Quinn's rotation does not appear to be run down/pass down specific. He just seems to deploy them in tandems.. Bohanna and Gallimore in one tandem for a series and then Hill and Osa in the other for the next series with Golston sprinkled in here and there. When it's obvious passing downs they kick Tank inside most of the time which sends one or both DTs to the sidelines. It's simply not accurate to say the other guys get more pressure than he does.. The numbers say different. He has more QB hits and pressures than the others despite playing fewer snaps. Which begs the question.. does he get fewer snaps because they do a better job of not giving up long drives when he's in there?
