"I don't know that a new coach coming in can solve THE PROBLEM."

Dak is THE PROBLEM...according to Jimmy.
No coach even if you could reincarnate Tom Landry or Vince Lombardi can make this team a winner come playoff time with Dak under center.
Has anyone realized how many talented players we have sacrificed and will continue to do so for #4?

That doesn't mean he would've offered him an insane contract that would hurt the team for years to come.

I mean dak was getting a contract that paid as the top quarterback from Dallas or somewhere else- that has nothing to do with what we think of him. That’s how the market works, when quarterbacks get paid they usually set the market especially when they are considered franchise guys in the range of anywhere top 8-12.

Again, had no problem letting dak leave. It the idea that the cowboys are hurt for years to come simply because of daks contract is wrong- the issues are much bigger than that

That is 100% correct. Dak keeps them relevant and he was hoping to just get the Cowboys into the playoffs in the next season or 2.

To hell with the rebuild!

Winning Super Bowls takes a back seat when it comes to Jerry!
I'm no Jerry GM fan but how do you win a Super Bowl without a rebuild? It's not just about the rebuilding process, but also the quality and player depth of a rebuild. That goes for a superior coaching staff as well. We are Super Bowl winning incapable because of this Jerry dual owner/GM position fiasco and an underpowered, inbred executive management group.

Had Dak been a free agent this past summer, he might have got that kind of contract. I’m skeptical he gets $60MM but he would have surely got something in the Goff range. But if he hadn’t been extended and was a FA in ‘25, there’s no chance he gets anything close to that given how poor he has played and more importantly how shot physically he looks. And that’s not taking into account the injury. Let’s see what Sam Darnold gets because I think Dak would have gotten something similar to that. Probably less because of age but very similar.

How did Jimmy Johnson do in Miami when he didn't have the best QB, best weapons, best Oline and best Defense to assist that QB?

Here. I will help refresh your brain:

Head Coach - Miami Dolphins:

1996: 8 - 8 record: 0 playoffs
1997: 9 - 7 record: 0 wins - 1 loss playoffs
1998: 10 - 6 record: 1 win - 1 loss playoffs
1999: 9 - 7 record: 1 win - 1 loss playoffs
2000: RETIRED

Jimmy proved that without the best QB, the best Oline, the best WRs, the best RB and the best Defense, he couldn't reach a Super Bowl, much less win one.

I rest my case.
Jimmy wanted to trade Marino but the owner chose to make the sentimental decision to keep him.

When I wrote, to hell with the rebuild, I meant it as this is what Jerry is thinking.

In his mind he is thinking that this team is close and so let me extend Dak.

This team is so screwed up right now and for the immediate future.

This team had ran its course and Jerry should have just had the players play out their contracts and start with a rebuild. New HC and start looking to upgrade the offensive line and defensive lines, would be a nice start.

Simple. Jerry and son didn’t want to risk not being “relevant,” and they have no idea how and where they are going to find the next QB.

Ought to be a fun next handful of years.
Maybe you draft one? Last year and this year, there are several great prospects in the 2025 draft. You can probably get Ewers on day 2. I like him a lot. He has a high IQ and can read coverages. Makes few mistakes. Sometimes smarts are greater than physical attributes. I don't need a running quarterback. Just give me someone who can move around in the pocket. Brady, Aikman & Montana all come to mind.

The Dak Bots just got short circuited
Jimmy didn't say anything not true.....especially making the deal late. Jimmy gave the Haters some fuel to keep running to nowhere. On behalf of the Dak Hate Program.....thanks Jimmy.

The idea that Dak's contract doesn't compound onto the other issues that the team has and makes the situation worse is simply wrong.

I could quote several posts here but AC, I just have to reiterate that you were on this board hoping that Dak would take a team friendly deal this summer. He most certainly did not.

Its OK to defend Dak the QB while admitting that his contract is a problem.
I've been saying that all of this time. Dak seriously hurt the Cowboys by taking Jerry to the cleaners, but Dak still gives us the best chance to win......by far.

I was hoping Dak would take a team friendly deal too. I figured his endorsements (how much are they worth, both local and national?) and the fact he already has generational wealth would be enough for a team friendly deal, but alas…..

I still think his injury is serious enough that he won’t be physically able to come back, as in his injury will interfere with his mechanics and he will be forced to retire.

I don’t disagree, but that’s not the path they chose.

I fully expect the next coach and draft to be about coddling Dak….Moore and the Boise RB.

They did actually seem to realize when they needed to draft Romos replacement, so they will eventually draft a QB, but I don’t expect them to look there just yet. Prescotts four year extension doesn’t even begin until next season.
