News: TS: Jimmy Johnson Trashes Cowboys For Paying Dak Prescott $60 Million Per Year

You may not trash him and I respect that

But some will

"Too old, game passed him by, he failed with the Dolphins, etc etc"

I agree with you it's a shame Jimmy and Jerry couldn't find a way to co exist

That would have been the greatest dynasty of all time
Only criticism of jimmy from me about his coaching is that I think his style would have been difficult with a salary cap and guaranteed contracts. Players have to much control....that's tough on college coaches...although the NIL taking care of that. Lol

We drafted very well under Jimmy. That's prolly not true.
We did...but we would have lost many of them with the cap....coaches just coached back then....things have changed. Jimmy was set in his ways, he didn't have to change. I don't like that he left, but he did what he thought was best for him

Jerry should have waited to sign Dak AFTER the last game of the year. Usually that's 4 interceptions and a beat down. But nooooooo...

Bought them? Who in hades thinks that? Name one high priced FA that we bought before Deion.

It's been said many times on here. Thanks to Jerry and his endless supply of money and no salary cap, Jimmy was able to win.

They got mad and attacked like wild chihuahuas when I called out Prescott as the Cowboys 666 .........filling his coffers and leaving sorrow and misery in his wake!!!
It's a shame this fraud of a so-called quarterback has cost us at least two SB trips and probably one Lombardi in the past nine seasons.

I don't think many, if any will trash him for him. His credentials speak for themselves...but, he's not a coach anymore, he's part of the media and is simply saying something that has been said since Dak signed the contract. I'm sure he was just answering a question....I do have an issue with Jimmy...has nothing tondonwith Dak. I just don't like that he left when he did. Was Jerry wrong? Of course, but he was also the boss. Jimmy knew it was time to leave and he did, i still don't like it.
Exactly! Doubt Jimmy wasn't pouring kerosene on the fire. He was answering a question and stated the obvious, "he's not the best player in the league."

Who is the best player in the league? Ask 100 people on this board and you'll get half dozen different answers.

How many would say, "the Dallas Cowboys QB?"

If you put every player In a draft today, Mahomes would be the first pick.

Mike McCarthy is a good coach. - Jimmy

Damn right. The best coach we've ever had.

I don't think you can be a bad coach and win a Super Bowl ... maybe an average one that has everything come together. He's definitely not as bad as what this year is making him look like. He just doesn't have the parts (especially with the injuries) to be regular-season competitive. And frankly, Jerry isn't going to give him (or pretty much any coach) the parts to be postseason competitive.

Now, since the Garrett fiasco, I've come to the conclusion looking at Super Bowl-winning coaches, especially in the salary cap era, that if your coach doesn't get you there in five years, then you need to move on. There also needs to be a steady progression (first year or two playoffs, next year win a playoff game, next year reach a championship game, etc.). Last year was a step back in the progression and this year is going to be a major step back (not all of McCarthy's doing).

Since McCarthy is in his fifth year, no matter how good of a coach he is, the level of achievement for keeping him should be no lower than getting us to a championship game this year no matter how much the deck is stacked against him. That may not be what Jerry is looking at, but historical evidence shows that he should be.
Barry Switzer was a bad NFL coach who won the Superbowl. Doug Peterson is a bad football coach who also won a Superbowl. It can happen. Talent can overcome bad coaching.

Paying him after the disastrous end to last season and his consistent choking in the playoffs would have been a poor decision whether we went 7-0 with him or not.
So the rest of the team did well in the playoffs, especially, that great defense??

Jimmy is SPOT on and correct when he states that a coaching change won't matter as we are cap strapped and our investment is a LEMON!
Wow...you know things are bad when you start replying to your own post.

Dak’s just lucky he plays for the team with a “fraud of a so-called” general manager. Now that Dak has a lucrative contract I bet he’d love to be traded. He can veto any trade he doesn’t like. It’s not like he could end up on a much worse team. Jerry won’t even figure out how to do that.

I'd disagree with you. I don't think either was a bad coach. But everything does have to fall into place ... for any coach. No coach has ever won a Super Bowl with two different teams. That tells you how hard it is to duplicate that success. Switzer fell into the right situation to do the things he is good at to get one more Super Bowl out of our 1990s teams. Then, the things he's bad at creeped in and helped our downhill slide.

Jimmy was a good coach in the 1990s... but this isn't the 1990s anymore.

Jimmy won 2 SBs when the salary cap wasn't an issue.

meh.

I root for the Cowboys, not Dak, and Dak is going to hold the "Cowboys" hostage until that contract ends somehow.
You can compare Dak to a Parasite sucking Cowboy blood to get FAT while the host suffers.............What is it now 0-4 vs the Niners?
Hmmmmmmmmmm Ya Parasite fits the Dakster 100%!

I had the SAME EXACT FEELING the morning Dim was extended as the day ASU hired Herm Edwards....it was kind of a deep exhale followed by the frank realization that my team was doomed for at least 5,6,7 years....minimum....and that no other organizational changes were gonna change that fact. We could hire "take you pick" as HC, and it wouldn't change my mind about this.
