Meh. The highest paid player in the league, isn't always best player in the league. Just latest to get paid.

There will be a new record contract set next year, by someone not named Pat Mahomes or Lamar Jackson.
You mean players that deserve it, right?

What is positive about paying The Dak that much money? Nothing, nothing at all.
Not what I meant....Dak happened, nothing we can do about that. But to root against your own, because you didn't like it....that's what I call a hater.

Simple. Jerry and son didn’t want to risk not being “relevant,” and they have no idea how and where they are going to find the next QB.

Ought to be a fun next handful of years.
that is what I always maintained, no way in hell is Jerry going to spend his last years searching for Chutch, Drew Henson, etc...its his inept son that keeps waiting to sign all these guys until the last minute. Lets let the market get set, so we can pay the top of market, cuz you know, deadlines make deals.

Re-signing Dak might go down as the worst decision Jerry has ever made. What a missed opportunity. Could've drafted Sanders or Ward for pennies on the dollar, instead they overpay for a declining, injury-prone, disingenuous clown.

I told yall there is a narrative that McCarthy is a good coach (he is) going on in media. Jerry is goign to keep him for sure. I still can't beleive we resigned Dak.

Here is the biggest problem Jerry has, he gets burned once and he "doesn't want to make the same mistake again". he got burned in free agency and now we barely use it. He got burned with the Dak Contract and he didn't want to do it, so he rushed a contract when he should have waited. He made the worst possible decisions twice with Dak.
I don't think you can be a bad coach and win a Super Bowl ... maybe an average one that has everything come together. He's definitely not as bad as what this year is making him look like. He just doesn't have the parts (especially with the injuries) to be regular-season competitive. And frankly, Jerry isn't going to give him (or pretty much any coach) the parts to be postseason competitive.

Now, since the Garrett fiasco, I've come to the conclusion looking at Super Bowl-winning coaches, especially in the salary cap era, that if your coach doesn't get you there in five years, then you need to move on. There also needs to be a steady progression (first year or two playoffs, next year win a playoff game, next year reach a championship game, etc.). Last year was a step back in the progression and this year is going to be a major step back (not all of McCarthy's doing).

Since McCarthy is in his fifth year, no matter how good of a coach he is, the level of achievement for keeping him should be no lower than getting us to a championship game this year no matter how much the deck is stacked against him. That may not be what Jerry is looking at, but historical evidence shows that he should be.
