Anybody with a brain knew we should have waited until the season was over and then talk with Dak, or let him go.
I still say there has to be some really arcane reason why Jerry made this move cause it just makes 0 sense.

Simple. Jerry and son didn’t want to risk not being “relevant,” and they have no idea how and where they are going to find the next QB.

Ought to be a fun next handful of years.
Fun is one word I guess.

This is what I don’t understand about the League. There are 4-5 QBs that can improve the supporting cast and get you to a Super Bowl. The rest of the league is made up of QBs that need help from a lot of other players to give you a shot at Division Championship. So why overpay so many QBs who never get you close to making it to a Division Championship? Let QBs bounce from one team to another. Perhaps some of these QBs will end up on teams with coaches and personnel that better suit their skillset.
Outstanding post.

Wait until those void years kick in.

They are kicking the can but not even spending the savings to try to win, more like cover past mistakes and the dead money.

It’s perpetual mismanagement and convincing people to look the other way.

I mean.. anyone with common sense and eyes could see Dak wasn’t it. Only way you saw Dak as that guy was if you fed off emotion. Like I’ve said since his rookie season. He ain’t that dude. The longer it goes, the more non Dak believers get vindicated.

It was setup so perfectly to Tank next season. Dak’s injury aside, all they had to do was let Dak play one year and walk. They’d probably get a 4th round comp pick for him too.

Now, I suppose you go after a RB and defense. Dak will be there at least 3 more years so Dallas will be middle of the pack. The only hope is build up a dominant defense around Paraons and the secondary plus Turpin. The offense just has to be capable.

The franchise is run by amateurs.

Having already gone through an expensive contract negotiation with Dak and his agent, why in the world would Jerry not do everything he could to provide options? He had four years to prepare!

How many QB's did Jerry draft between Dak's last contract and this new one? In that four-year window he drafted one QB in the 7th round. Seriously?

They traded for a QB while admitting that he wasn't ready to play.

They had four years to acquire a "Plan B" quarterback capable of being a legitimate starter and did next to nothing.

To make matters worse, knowing they had no alternative, they still procrastinated as the contract demands increased every time another QB got his deal.

The only way to justify such a contract is total belief in elite productivity over the course of that contract.

There is "belief" and there is irrational, unrestrained, pure fantasy.

Excellent post. Its because there is a lack of good QB play overall in the league, so average guys get insane money because of it. Its "good enough" just to make it to the playoffs for the majority of clubs, but its the elite teams that expect to do something once they get there.

They also think that since he is paid so well that he ought to do things that he isn’t capable of.

They overrate many players and he is no exception.

I don’t trash him like many, but he needs a support cast, and his salary prevents that from being the case…or that’s what they claim at least.

Bad combo of a situation.
How did Troy fare after he lost his Oline, WR and Defense during Troy's last 4 years? Looks like Troy needed them all to produce so well. Looks like Troy needed a supporting cast as well.

True or False? Jimmy sounds like a hypocrite and an idiot.

The day he leaves Dallas he will play another full season. Not before. This team is way far away from competing for a chip. That said, The Texans have shown, drafting very well starting with QB, can turn things around expeditiously. I think Daks here until Arch Manning is in the draft. So 2 more years of Dak.

He had the cast around him the last 3 plus years and has done absolutely nothing with it,that's not an excuse any longer.
