I know Vrabel is an interesting name and some want him here and wonder how he couldn't be hired. Well for a defensive minded player and coach he's returned mostly average defenses over his coaching tenure, which could be why.

That was my first thought. He’d make Jerry uncomfortable. Jerry still has PTSD from walking on egg shells when Parcells was here.

That seems silly. Has Jerry ever been known to be intimidated by anyone?

That being said, I’ve done a fair bit of executive coaching and I have discussed body language for some of the truly big men and how it can be a benefit but something that can work against them when they are trying to get feedback from their teams.

Maybe the fact that there is hesitancy to bring a guy in who will in all likelihood be a HC in 2025? He brings in a new system, and has success...then WHAM leaves? Zimmer, Rex and Wink are not HC candidates and are at no risk of leaving after year 1 are they?

It would not surprise me if there is any truth to it. Vrabel appears to be the type, who would make it crystal clear, he would not appreciate any input about coaching from someone outside his staff.

Anything is possible though. Jones may end up hiring Vrabel. I will officially go on record saying I would be completely shocked if that happens. Like, eyes popping out of a cartoon character type shocked.

Jerry and his boy, and McClay? Maybe MM are the ones picking the DC with jones boys deciding who to interview.
They may have info on what the guys want pay wise, and that could be a deciding factor in who they interview.

Jerry also likes coaches with a name, thats why he doesnt look at young asst coaches for DC,OC, or HC.
A lot of teams are hiring dc's and oc's for HC, ........ not jerry, they dont have a name and he doesnt know how to SELL them to fans and media.

I think that is part of what he is looking at , is can he sell this coach, and not how well he can coach. A good fit is someone he can sell lol.

I think people are overrating Vrabel as a DC. He was a DC for 1 year in his career and his defense was bad. DC's are tacticians and thats not Vrabel's skill set. Im more interested in him as a HC than as a DC
