Jake. Had they said 68 was eligible instead then Dallas would have covered him instead.Had the roles been reversed this place would be littered with conspiracy threads. It would be "proof" of every whiny thread when the Cowboys lost.
But since the call benefitted the Cowboys, we've got a thousand posters playing the role Johnny Cochran for the refs.
Is it really that hard to admit we caught a break? Yes, it is. Need to keep that conspiracy card handy for the next loss.
Exactly. There is literally zero evidence the ref screwed up the 2 point conversion call. We have no idea who said what, only video evidence of 3 linemen talking to the ref who then announced one of them eligible over the loudspeaker, audible by 100,000 people. Detroit then threw the ball to someone who was not announced as eligible.
If they are downgrading that crew it should be for the Hendershot call.
Big deal doesnt change the out come or take away the dissatisfaction about the ending many who saw the game have.
Many will still think it was just a sloppy fix.
They wont be fired as these guys are trained by the nfl and cant be fired. they do a good job for the nfl, just not the teams or the fans lol.
What I want is a public conference with those officials and the lions players, dumb dan lol and let them all explain what happened.
even if it is after the season.
and yeah kick these refs out now or after the season, I doubt any team would like to see this crew is going to do their playoff game.
I think for a play like that you stop the game get ny involved as to what to do, I THINK so many mistakes were made, they should redo the down,
no penalty's and if dumb cambell wants to go for it again, let him.
I feel sorry for the lions players to have such a dumb HC , he screwed that play all up , and then said they practiced it all week!! imagine if they only spent a hour! lol
In fact considering they took all week, and it came out like that is pathetic ! Reminds me of that last play of dallas where they didnt get ball snapped in time lol
and Mike said they practiced that all week too , pathetic again !
POST OF YOUR ENTIRE CAREER, that's exactly the issue, GREED!!!I don’t think the Lions intentionally tried to trick the referees. No evidence of it.
The real mistake was stubornly going for 2 on the subsequent plays. In the chaos of their fury at the penalty , they should have sent the game to OT.
Yep Tony Dungy and the SNF said it last night that the Lions were trying to be slick(which is ok but don’t get mad when it backfires) the lions didn’t do anything wrong but they complicated the matter and it backfire on them. I don’t see the big deal. Just move on. They’re trying to be like the Belicheck Pats so badIts odd that people are missing this. Its the same reason Sewell goes up to the ref for absolutely no reason. They're trying to sneak the eligible receiver into the play.
Couldn't agree more. It's like the fumble call that went against CeeDee. Since it took a drive away from Dallas it's the worst rule in the book. But the tune would be different had it happened to Detroit instead.Had the roles been reversed this place would be littered with conspiracy threads. It would be "proof" of every whiny thread when the Cowboys lost.

They are all selectively not mentioning the Hendershot call. There is literally zero evidence the ref screwed up the 2 point conversion call. I don't understand why how many players went over to talk to the ref really matters. As we all agree, the ref is going to report the eligible player to the defense. We are going to know the options & it's going to be on us to defend it. Also, trying to cause confusion is a fundamental part of most football plays. So, even if that was part of their plan, isn't that just competing?Doesn’t matter. Once they told our defense that #70 was eligible, they had to throw a flag.
If Philly had simply sent #68 - and only #68 - to the ref, I’d be more understanding. The Lions knew running 3 guys at the ref might confuse the defense. Instead, it confused the refs.
Game over. We win.

But IF the ref screwed up, they sabotaged a teams chances. What should be clear is that Detroit ran the play for 68. It's a pretty big leap to believe Detroit messed up their own reporting.
I don't believe a single poster on this site would be as understanding if it had happened to us.
Yea. This is your cause. It’s virtue signaling—and we get it you’re above challenging refs.Had the roles been reversed this place would be littered with conspiracy threads. It would be "proof" of every whiny thread when the Cowboys lost.

You would like to think that would have simplified it. But couldn't the ref still have screwed up? I mean they get numbers wrong all the time when calling fouls. It's the only reason we're still talking about this bull****! If Detroit doesn't run three players at him there wouldn't have been a problem.
You're wrong.. We just experienced this against the Eagles when Edoga failed to report but Dak reported for him. I still believe it's a silly rule but a rule it is. In that Eagles game I believe we lost a touchdown because of it and ended up kicking a FG. Had we scored that TD the score would have been 28-27 in those final seconds and all we would have needed to win would have been a FG. Yes we were all upset but most of acknowledged that if that's the rule then it was the right call.I don't understand why how many players went over to talk to the ref really matters. Yes they get numbers wrong but that's on fouls, not on guys standing 5 feet away from them and talking to them. And I have never see them mistake a 70 for a 68 before. I would see if he had mistook the 58 as the reporter but not 70.You would like to think that would have simplified it. But couldn't the ref still have screwed up? Players talking to the ref between plays isn't a rare occurrence. How do we know 58 didn't go over because he felt we were doing something he wanted the ref to watch for?
The comical thing is that the lions heard him announce 70 and didn't complain.Yes they get numbers wrong but that's on fouls, not on guys standing 5 feet away from them and talking to them.
