He was the USFL MVP at WR
And my neighbor's wife is the best-looking broad at the local VFW hall...doesn't mean that she should enter the Miss America contest.

There were 15 players who made an NFL roster from the USFL this year, and I could be wrong, but I don't think any of them are starting for their teams currently. Doesn't mean that Turpin can't be a really good player in this league, but there is no shortage of backup players in the NFL who would be league MVP in the USFL or XFL. What I do think however is it is perfectly reasonable to be patient and give some time to a player coming from a developmental league. Let Turpin develop at the NFL level, let the Cowboys get better at what Turpin does best (they are not exactly a great screen team right now), and keep him fresh for the stretch run.

Unless the coaching staff is seeing in practice that he is significantly more than a gadget player I have zero issues with his usage to this point, and honestly don't think this coming week against the Bears is the time to get him a bunch of touches. If he can be a complete receiver get him on the field. If not lets save some of the plays designed for Turpin for the more important games.

Why is everyone complaining? We won the game and ran them out of the building. Dak didn't make any mistakes and thats all he had to do. We get into trouble when Moore goes into air attack mode and we rely on Dak's arm.

Our team strengths are defense and the run game. We are the 49ers and that should get us to an NFC title game if not a super bowl.

Turpin has done his job on ST and deserves snaps as WR especially with current group dropping balls consistently every game.

To set up plays like his end around you actually have to have him on the field for more than 1 - For some reason they don't seem to understand this. I may not be able to design plays but I really think I could call them better than Moore. I did design some very effective flag football plays however!!

Hey dude..I'm looking for 4-5 targets per game, he knows how to play WR was the USFL MVP point.
I'm all for calling him a "gadget" guy.

I'd like to see 5 yard gadget slants and outs ..not end arounds that take 10 seconds to develop 8 yards deep in the backfield

The guy has already played a full pro football season before this one ....... Wearing him out would be as stupid as an OP thread.

Kid has some quickness and could wreak havoc in the future if he can run the short routes well.

The last time I felt like any punt return or kickoff could go to the house EVERY time was back when we had Prime Time.

Even 4-6 plays a game where he comes around would open up a defender if you just had a normal run play or quick pass off of that action but you can't bring him in for one play and run the end around on that play. That's gradeschool stuff right there. If I am a defender that's the first thing I think of when he steps on the field. Ad then after I tackle the guy I am thinking "they were really stupid enough to think that would work"!

He weighs 152 pounds. His snaps should remain limited. Overuse is a great way to wear him down or get him injured.

I would introduce him late in the year and just in time for the playoffs.

I'm fine with getting him a few targets a game, and my point is I think that will come. My issue is if he is a limited player it doesn't do this team any good to get the few things he does well on tape against the Lions and Bears. Save that for the next Philly game when hopefully we are playing for the division title, save it for the playoffs.

If Turpin is capable of being that complete receiver who teams can't just sit on 1-2 routes and maybe a jet sweep then I'm all for playing the guy and getting him those touches every game. If he is a straight go route/slant route guy, and teams figure that out when you do play a team with good veteran CBs like Philly Turpin becomes a non factor.

There is just so much that we don't really know about the guy right now, and him winning USFL MVP is great and all, but what does that competition level really look like? Is playing in the USFL even on par with a playing in a bigger college conference? honest question there because I truly dont know.

What I do know about Turpin right now is that the guy can be electric with the ball in his hands. The best way to do that is TBD so at least for the time being I'm not going to scream for Kellen Moores job because of this issue. Plenty of other reasons to do so haha.

Turpin is a gadget guy/punt returner.
I don't agree. He can go deep as a decoy or as a pass catching receiver. He can do a bubble screen or catch balls in the flats or down the seam. Disguised enough with window dressing the defense will not have a clue on how he is being deployed. I am not saying he gets the ball 7-10 times a game just that he is on the field of play that many snaps. Speed kills and Turpin has that element. He is better used on the field a few plays a game instead of the bench. The jet sweep is obvious to the defense.

He’s a 26 year old rookie who was a 13th round draft pick in the USFL. Yeah those guys typically don’t play and when they do it’s special teams contributions.

I’m not even saying he shouldn’t play more, I just need more substance than he runs fast to really get behind the idea the cowboys are failing by not playing him.

I’ll give you a reason. Our WR’s are showing much at all. He can’t do worse than what Gallup has done the last couple of weeks. Might as well see if we can throw on some underneath or HR type plays for the fastest guy out there.

Not ready to give up on Gallup, and still think we need to have guys win playing time because they are earning it, not because other guys are failing, but this is the best rational i've heard yet.
