Just looking at replacing talent, which is what GMs do.

'07 Offseason

Ken Hamlin replaced Pat Watkins
Leonard Davis replaced Marco Rivera
Nick Folk replaced Gramatica/Vanderjagt
Anthony Spencer replaced Bobby Carpenter

'08 Offseason

Zach Thomas/Bobby Carpenter replace Akin Ayodele
Adam Jones replaces Jacques Reeves
Mike Jenkins replaces Nate Jones
Orlando Scandrick replaces Evan Oglesby
Felix Jones replaces Julius Jones
Martellus Bennett replaces Anthony Fasano

The only move that I can say is a borderline "downgrade" so far is replacing Fasano with Bennett, but obviously the front office doesn't think that's a downgrade at all. Edit: To clarify, long-term I don't think it's a downgrade, but short-term I think it definitely is.

What do you think? Yay or nay? Not too shabby at all, if you ask me.

Jerry will impress me when he replaces Rowdy.:D

On a serious note, pretty good upgrades although people will still complain about not getting a vet WR .

I say Yay. And I'm not so sure Fasano is better than Bennett. The rookie can't be any worse around the end zone. That's where Fasano dropped the ball.

I love what Jerry has done with this team. People still want to bring up the 3 5-11 seasons Jerry had before Parcells but I for one think he is one of the best GMs in the NFL right now.

That move could still be pending don't you think?

Other than that, all the moves listed are A-OK.

All it says is that Jerry came in and cleaned the mess the Parcells created.

What? Is this post serious?

I'm far from a Parcells apologist and am glad he's no longer the coach, but the man did a tremendous job reshaping the organization. To say he created a "mess" is a joke.

Nice list, and I definitely agree.

And I would throw Curtis' name into the replacing Fasano category.

When they traded Fasano away I felt it was an indicator that they felt Curtis was ready to step up and replace him.

I still feel that way and drafting Bennett makes that even easier.

Parcells did a lot of good here, but the guy made his share of mistakes as well.

Credit Jerry for upgrading several positions.

One spot I'm still surprised they haven't made more of an effort on would be LG.

The only downgrade is at head coach but that will be remedied when Garrett gets the job.

In terms of coaching on the field, I'd take Wade over Bill any day.

Like Wade Phillips would say, 13-3. That's all you need to know.:p:

'09 Offseason

Pat Watkins replaces Ken Hamlin (lost in FA)
Bobby Carpenter replaces Zach Thomas (one too many knocks on the noggin)
Mike Jenkins replaces Adam Jones (suspended indefinitely for buying all the
Dallas area strip joints)
Choice replaces MBIII (who still wants big money)
Tony Curtis replaces Martellus Bennett (who jokes and eats himself out the
NFL)
Nobody replaces Terry Glenn (never played again)
Nobody replaces a worn down TO
Nobody replaces Kosier (who gets tired of people making fun of him)
Nobody replaces Roy Williams (S-who follows in Kosier's footsteps--literally)

Lets look at Parcells drafts since he's been here.
  • 2003 he struck silver by nabbing to Pro Bowlers in Newman and Witten and a solid player in Bradie James
  • 2004 he struck out big time. Out of 8 picks only the 7th rd Patrick Crayton is still on the team
  • 2005 he not only struck gold he may have nab one of the best players in the league in Demarcus Ware. He also got Barber,Spears, Burnett, Canty and Ratliff. Batted 1.000
  • 2006 only 2 players that are servicible(Hatcher, Watkins). Carp would help alot but not a great draft

I agree with most of your post, however Fasno was not a productive player for us. Only time will tell if Bennet is an upgrade.

Yes, given these two terrible off-seasons so far, it's fully warranted to expect the worst in '09.

I didn't even predict any career ending injuries--how is that "the worst"? ;)
