Two Head Coaches After Season over< My Thoughts

I want Larry coker also Im sick of this Old school trash Parcells throws out every week!!! Larry coker would be a great option for Jerry next year. Another Coach from Miami baby!!

My point exactly, because Bill Parcells playbook and philosophy is so old and played out we starting to lose close games now... give the goodest college coach our football team and watch how good we do...

We play don't score that many points to win the game, the college coach coker and carroll plays aggressive, which is what we need right about now...

I dont know who will replace the TUna but It's to early to even think about it.

I respect the post none the less.

Goodest?? Is that a word???

An earlier post said that JJ might come back to coach the Rams for minority ownership. So it makes you think if Jones would rekindle that relationship for a chance to work with Jimster again (older and wiser)? Also, the coach I thought would be a good fit would be Stoops in Norman. I know he's had a tough year, but everyone has some ups and downs. But the black horse candidate would be Tedford from Cal. He's turned that moribund program around into a winner. He's a quarterback guru and he's innovate and young. I know he's already turned down Chicago, but I hope Jones could do a sell job on him.

The day after the Commanders game Jerry was on some local Dallas station saying that BP would be around for as long as he wanted to coach. Jerry loves BP.

Given Parcells history of leaving teams it wouldnt surprise me for him to step down before his contract is up.

However Carroll may leave USC after this season. Weis I believe wants to win a championship at ND. Coker would be better served to be a coordinator somewhere before taking a HC position in the NFL.

I heard about the low buyout for Weis a few days ago and it is a possibility that he could be available for the right price. But he is making pretty good money as a college coach and it is often considered the best coaching job in all of football. Kinda like coaching the Tarheels basketball program.

Did it anger you when you were midseason last year and Gibbs was failing, and people called for his head.

Terps, give me your honest oppinion, if Dallas is sitting at 5-3, is there really reason to sack Parcells? Did he anticipate village idiot to miss that kick?

Im asking, cuz i respect your oppinion, and sadly, as of recent, probably more than some of the people on this board

Parcells is a solid coach. I dont think that anyone can say otherwise. I dont believe that he has ever been FIRED from a coaching job.

At 5-3 (I think the Cardinals game is a gimme) Jones would be stupid to fire Parcells, hell he might be stupid to fire him at any point.

Of course I was angry about people bashing a HOF coach when he stepped into a situation with poor coaching for years, players that were primadonnas, and a losing mentality. Then the media with the jabs about the game being so different. That has proven wrong this year. Apparently Gibbs still had his sea legs and needed time to adjust. I think most people including Cowboys fans did not think Gibbs would walk right in and turn this team into a winner. Parcells did it year one but it was proven to be a sham by late season.

Cortez has never been any good. He doesnt have a leg. I remember him in SF missing kicks all the time. I can blame Bill for that.

The Cowboys need HEART. IMO, thats what they are missing. This team has a lot of capable playmakers at positions on both sides of the ball, they either need players to step up and be leaders, or coaches to step up and teach. There is something missing in the chemistry right now.

There is a huge difference between ND and an NFL job. In the NFL, there's usually on one arse to kiss, the owner. At ND, lose 3 games in a season and don't get a BCS bid and there's about 14-15 arses a coach has to kiss just to see the next season.

That article on NFL.com is lame. Somebody has it in for ND. Why would they bring the low buyout figure up now? Why wasn't it brought up in December 2004 when Weis was hired? Why wasn't it brought up in August? They now bring it up becasue Charlie has already proven he can win at the collegiate level. They bring it up now that Charlie has proven he can recruit, with one of the most heralded recruiting classes coming in next year. A lot of programs and people across the country are afraid of the dynasty that Charlie may be building in South Bend. That's the bottom line.

When Weis was hired, he said the following.

“I don’t come here to leave and take a job in the NFL in three years,” Weis said. “This is not a stepping stone. This is an end-all for our family. When we come to Notre Dame, we come here with the intent of retiring here.”
“That’s why we’re coming here. We don’t come here to bounce somewhere else. If that’s what I was going to be doing, I would not be taking this job and I would be waiting till the season ended in the NFL and try to get one of those jobs. I’m here because I want to be here. I’m proud to be here. I’m thankful to be here.”

Tom Lemming, the recruiting analyst who has spoken with Charlie numerous times since Weis was hired said the following about the article.

“I can’t imagine this is anything but somebody trying to ****** Notre Dame’s progress in recruiting,” Lemming said. “He never looked at this job as a stepping stone. He’s a Notre Dame grad with a love for the school, and he plans on staying for a while to develop it into a national power. And then when he does, why would he want to leave? With every experience I’ve had with him, he seems to be a man of his word. And he hasn’t said one word about the NFL.”

Now can we put this Weis to the NFL rumor to bed once and for all. It's not going to happen anytime soon.

What about Marty Kiffin, Tampa Bay Bucs defensive cordinator being Dallas Cowboys next head coach if not Jimmy...

Please stop, we have a coach. And isn't his name Monte? At least get his name right.

Sometimes people achieve their "dream job" and then realize that it isn't what they really wanted.

Make no mistake, recruiting is a taxing process for the modern college coach. Add the fact that most coaches must keep the school's President, AD and some powerful yet pompous boosters inside the loop and it's not unreasonable to believe that almost any college coach would jump at the chance to coach for a marquee NFL team.

Unless Weis puts a few MNCs together in just a couple of seasons and reaches a Paterno-like status where the President and AD answer to him, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he left.

Parcells losing too many close games alright..., if he keeps doing this after all that Jerry Jones spent over the offseason to get a competitive team to win a championship this year, it is a question whether if Jerry Jones will have a talk with Bill about possibly retiring without firing him, and maybe Jerry Jones will do what Parcells did when he was out of options> he signed Bledsoe for his last chance.

I believe Jerry Jones will consider his last reasonable option, let bygones be bygones, and sign Jimmy Johnson... I think owners have a way of convicing coaches to sign.

This will make a lot of money in media, fans, etc. Give Jimmy Johnson every thing Parcells had.

I think Jimmy Johnson could restore us back into our old way, which nine times out of ten work today. Why not?

Maybe Norv Turner be available after this year and Dave Wanstad, and possibly Campo.. Why not?

I seriously doubt this is going to happen but I'm not going to take away your dream. LOL

Give it up dude. Why stop at the staff reunion? Let's get Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Novacek, Stepnoski, Erik Williams, Newton, Tuinei(RIP), Alvin Harper, Moose, Kevin Smith, Woodson, Lett, Tolbert, et al.

If we fail to make the playoffs again, I would expect that there would be some accountability. Why would Parcells not be subject to that?

3 years is plenty to turn around a franchise in this day and age.

Regardless..... a couple more called games like Seattle and Parcells may not make it till the end of the year.

How did this thread get a higher than normal rating?

The initial post has to be one of the dumbest things I ever read.
