Philly ran the ball well at times but also played with great field position for much of the game.

I suggested last week that we try to trade for a DT and I was ridiculed

Last night wasn't all about being overpowered though. The filthy's o-line is good, we knew that going in. Yes, they can play smash mouth football. But, what we couldn't stop (don't think anyone has) was the threat of them going outside. If you sell out to clog the middle, there is no one left to defend the edges. If you defend the edges, then you are playing them straight up in the trenches. LBers have to consistently find the right spot to fill.

A super stud DT would be great but I don't know that it solves the dilemna they pose.

Didnt matter because on the biggest drive of the game when we needed the stop, Quinn played his Super Bowl winning strategy that worked wonders against the Patriots!

KM going pass crazy when Rush was obviously out of sorts was absolutely on KM.

I don't understand this. The Oline wasn't run or pass blocking in the first half. When you are in third & 9, you generally have to pass.

If the Oline had played better, the game wouldn't have gotten out of sorts in the first half.

He ain't wrong. We had cut the lead to 3 and had all the momentum. The crowd was out of the game mostly. Philly took the ball and proceeded to jam it down out throats with something like 11 straight runs and iced the game. A great D gets off the field in those kind of situations.

This is the correct answer. If we woulda just brought pressure on those 3rd downs there is no way they get all 4. Idk why we ever play Parsons off the line of scrimmage. He causes to much havoc when he’s on it.

Cowboys had 134 yards on 26 carries.

Who was more effective stopping the run? Not perfect, but I will take it after all the BS I heard about the Philly running game.

Cowboys had more passing yards...181-151.
Top rusher in the game was Eliott
Top receiver was Lamb
And Turpin had nearly 100 return yards.

The difference.....you are right.....Rush.......no arm, no velocity....3 interceptions and short field.

As I looked over these stats, I was simply amazed. The Fegals will lose next time to us.

That one play they ran 3 times and I think they scored twice on it had Parsons in a bad spot. He can't cover the QB run and WR/TE going out in a route.

I'm confident next time they play Quinn will get that fixed

It actually was a receiver who had lined up in the backfield but that play that forces the LB to choose between the play and the back is simple to defend if everyone is assignment sound. You just have to assign someone to the QB and someone to the back. The hole in the defense is that the QB is usually unaccounted for. Why you would not adjust and have someone assigned to a QB who runs like Hurts is a complete mystery to me. So I have to assume that Quinn went over it all week and it just didn't sink in for the guys. No way Dan Quinn just completely whiffed on how to defense this offense. The other thing that I have not seen mentioned is that Parsons was clearly laboring to run any long distances. He was fine in short bursts but when he had to open up and run a while you could see the effects of the injury. He could not extend his stride and build up any speed. Kudos to the Eagles for noticing that and taking advantage. Good luck doing that the next time around.

People see what they want . Eagles got a big run stuffing DT in the first round. He was double teamed and pushed out of the hole many times.
NBC won't show you that, because Colinsworth would be suicidal but go look yourself.

You need great LB play with better talent at DT, to be a true run stuffing team

Philly ran 39 times for 135 yards 3.5 YPC

So you admitted that Dallas double teamed a Philly DT which is an advantage to the defense as 1 body taking up 2 is simple math. As for NBC supposedly not showing it, so you are saying it's a collusion attempt by a sports network? Give me a break.

As for the rushing stats, keep in mind that on the long 4th quarter drive that Dallas couldn't stop and sealed the game, Philly threw 3 times for 29 yards and rushed 10 times for 45 yards and obtained their 3 converted 3rd downs by way of rushing the ball.....so tell me again how not stopping the Philly rush didn't impact the game.

Sure and they had less than 5 yards of offence in the 3rd quarter. They do have a good team, but to put this on our inability to stop the run is ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous. A good run D doesn't let that 4th Q drive happen. A good run D doesn't let them convert a 3rd and 4 or 5 running the ball with a backup TB.

The run D is a problem. It's not the biggest reason we lost but it's a problem and with the game on the line, they couldn't get off the field because Philly's OL just handled us. Run D is one of our biggest achilles heels.

Run defense certainly isn’t a strength, but everyone is having trouble with that RPO stuff. I imagine Quinn will have a remedy for game #2. Dak’s arm is better, I just PRAY that Kellen Moore doesn’t revert to pass happy “trick” plays.
