I think most of teh Scott hate came about because of the hate for Dixon when he was here. When fans would talk about the FS position outside of Williams and Woodson, those two guys would be grouped together, and therefore hated together.

No, "Scott hating" is exclusive to this board, though it has spread to a lesser extent to other boards by some of the more simplistic members here who post at multiple boards.

On the old board Scott was the butt of a few of the more humorous members jokes (some are still here, some aren't, they know who they are) because he was near the bottom of the depth charts on some horrible teams and no one would defend him. The slower members thought that he was then "fair game" for trashing, failing to realize that he's gone from a UDFA scrub who must have had the "embarrassing pictures" to keep his job to a serviceable NFL player that Parcells seems to value.

And he's EXACTLY the kind of player Bill cherishes..maxing his ability, playing his heart out on specials, and playing smart enough at safety not to cost you more than his lack of speed already does.

He's a valuable role player, imo.

My thoughts exactly. As I said in a previous post, it isn't his fault that his "role" is increased due to mismanagement.

And isn't that the type of player that usually becomes a "fan favorite"? Instead we have a Tyson Thompson lovefest.

I agree I am one of those bashers sometimes. But he impressed me last season and won me over. I agree he is a role player, and he is solid backup at FS, and an great ST player. However, I would like an upgrade at FS, which IMO may be Davis if he can step up a little more he seems to be the ball hawk we could use back there. Granted his ball hawking was in NFLE. With that said Scot can be a good stop gap untill and better FS is found.

As to Morgan, if he can correct his catching problem, which from some accounts he appears to have gotten better. I still think Crayton will take the #3 spot from him and they will rotate.

Crayton gives us more options then Morgan does, he has excellent hands per Bill(which I belive LTN pointed out in another thread with the company he is sharing on the O is quite the complement), he can pass if need be and Bill does like the occasional trick play, he is a shifty runner, not a true burner, but he has deceptive speed. He also has the mental game down. I can see him and Morgan being #2 and #3 after Key and Glenn leave(assuming Morgan keeps on improving his hands).

Yep. Everyone would like more upside at FS, but when Bill claimed he and Jerry felt that FS was the 'least' of their priorities in offseason, it indicated to me that upgrading the cbs and putting Roy in a better position would automatically enable a Scott type player to at least do his job more effectively. l

And isn't that the type of player that usually becomes a "fan favorite"?

Every team has a running joke gag about the guy who 'must have pictures of the owner in a compromising situation'. Scott seems to have inherited that honor from Stoerner. A Lynn Scott 'everyman' can go both ways....fan favorite or scapegoat. Poor Lynn drew the short straw.

Ok, fine. Let's get rid of Quincy. Who's the replacement? If there is one thing the boys are missing is quality depth at WR. THis isn't to say QM is quality, but he could be.

who was throwing the ball to morgan all these years?

tim couch?kelly holcombe?jeff garcia?vinny testaverde?

GREAT QBS THERE.i think drew is better than all of them

It don't matter who is thrown the ball to Morgan. It could be Peyton Manning Daunte Culpepper or Tom Brady and he would still drop more then he catches.

Bledsoe is thrown him the ball now and he still drops alot of passes. And Bledsoe is a good QB.

Jeff Garcia. Well I think he has a couple of 30 TD pass seasons and some 4000 yard seasons with the 9ers. It really does not matter who throws to Morgan he has hands of butter.

Dude, Quincy Morgan played well for us last season... he made some nice catches and had maybe 1-2 drops... he's struggling right now in camp, but we definitely need to hang on to him.. if he really stinks it up in pre-season, then I'd consider cutting him, but not now...

to everybody that hates Morgan and Cundiff, might as well root them on, cause they're gonna be cowboys this year whether you like it or not,

and you cant hate on Morgan just yet, c'mon, he got traded during season- having to try and learn the offense on the fly, terry going out, vinny as your quarterback, playing injured with i think his hamstring, and oh yea, having eddie george as your starting running back for most the season.

let him at least prove himself in a better situation than what he arrived in

First of all, Jeff Garcia had Terrel Owens and Jerry Rice, now whether you dislike Terrel, or both, everyone knows they have talent, Jerry may not be so as much now cause of age, but still w/o them, Jeff Garcia is nothing, and i think he proved that in Cleveland this past year, thats probably why he's a backup now to Joey Harrinton.

Some Facts...
*Garcia had only one 4000 season,-Owens had 1500 and Rice had 800 that year
*Garica did have two 30 touchdown seasons, ofcourse you gotta take in consideration the fact who his recievers were
*and w/o either one of them, he had just a 1700 season, even vinny,-as much as we are glad to have him replaced, had 3500 yards.
*his numbers have been on the decline since 2000, this past year dropping a thousand yards, and now probably will continue on the decline backing up quarterback Joey Harrington.

my point-Jeff is nothing w/o Jerry Rice, perhaps the greatest reciever ever, and Owens, and you can argue whether he or Randy Moss is better (still a good comparison either way)

and actually Morgan had 3 of an only 9 touchdowns Garcia threw, so you cant say anything there
