Mens and womans, I half two comments about Jason Garrett

The first is: Garrett, imho, is one of the brainier coaches in the NFL. I think he be gifted and stuff and really, really know football unlike Jerra. And if it was up to me I would gift him a 5-year extension.
But here is what wrankles me.
His seeming lack of fire in the belly. Yes, lack of fire.
I do not trust him to get angry at players, to scream at them to publicly rebuke thems -- for anything.
As I half said before, a player stink it up in a game and this is Garrett's script:
"How is everyone! Good! Yes, it was a difficult day for the team. We didn't execute and we did half some lapses. Player X had a rough day. All I can say is we want him to contribute at the high level we are used to. He is intelligent and his work ethic is without question. He wants so badly to win that he tries to do too much. He knows his value to our team and I'm sure he'll have another All-Pro day next Sunday." Blah! (and I don't means he is talking about Romo; I think he'll half a excellent year)

Needles to say, Garrett is no Jimma Johnson.

Show some fire, Jason! Show your displeasure. Don't build up a guy who stunk it up. Fear can motivate, intimidate and adjudicate!

Mein second point:

If this is Jerra's "show me the playoffs or your gone" to Jason season, Jason will leaf by the end of December.
I cannot see this team advancing to the playoffs. Period. Pointe. Blanc. No way he can survive if this is THE season that Jerra wants to advance. Most, if you is honest, will put us at 6-10 this coming season. Yes, admit it. The defense will sink us.

OK, gift me your best. I half cookies, punch and some appetizers made by the Ladies Square Dance Auxiliary in the hobby room and I hope you enjoy the post and the snacks.

I agree we are probably headed for a losing season. The defense just seems to keep looking worse on paper and in the field. The only wild-card (pun intended) is just how lights out this offense can be. If we stay healhy there and reach potential we could hang a 30+ burger every game and hide the defense enough to get to 9-10 wins.

As for Garrett, meh. I never wanted him here and still don't.

Well...we don't know what goes on in the meetings or what is said by the coaches. But, it would be nice if the players that make the team really know the tradition and meaning about becoming a Dallas Cowboy. The times where other teams really did not want to play them. Respect.

Well, this next team better understand the disrespect that they earned. Coaches can teach, but the players need to play.

The chosen ones have not been picked yet. Just a little bruised up...like the apples that fall off a tree. It used to be where other teams did not look forward playing against the Cowboys.

This offense could be really good. And it is not unheard of for a team to make it to the playoffs and beyond with a horrible defense. Look no further than the Broncos last year or the Saints prior to Rob Ryan. 6 and 10 or less is a bit pessimistic in my opinion and would seem to be a knee-jerk reaction to the 1st preseason game which did not feature any key players on either side of the ball. Top 3 corners did not play. Starting SS did not play. All four projected starting defensive lineman did not play. Dez Bryant, Tony Romo, Demarco Murray, Lance Dunbar, and Jason Witten did not play. It is still way too early to write this team off.

I agree with this comment, but allow me to split some hairs- the Saints were 7-9 the year before Rob Ryan got there with the worst defense (in terms of yards allowed) in NFL history. Even Brees and Co. could only do so much.

To be fair, that was the year Sean Payton was suspended. In that year, even the offense wasn't the same. I was referring to the years prior.

You would have really hated Tom Landry before his winning days.

I guess pointing to Landry as a fire-less coach would be too obvious

I don't know.

I'm a longtime fan back to 1965.

Back then..

Landry had been the HC since 1961.

And he wasn't winning..

..there were rumors back then that Landry's Flex Defense was not up to speed and Landry was in danger of being replaced if there wasn't more progress.

then finally the team went 7-7 and went to Miami and played Baltimore in their first playoff game.

Baltimore won easily with Tom Mattingly at QB because Unitas was hurt and couldn't play.

the point was though..

that even Landry has to win to get out of trouble

It's time for Garrett to win, too.

He's clearly in trouble here with the talent, injuries and suspensions this team seems to constantly incur.

We are not going to improve on 8-8 this season.

It comes down to what won/loss record will force his release or allow him to stay?

If it is 5-11 or worst..he's gone.

If its 9-7 I think he stays one more year..

If he goes 10-6 or better..

he get's a 5 year extension.

It's that up in the air, I think.

It's like looking at a car wreck as you go by. You don't really want to... but you have to, so you look.

I guess that's why I always click on Gimme's threads he starts.

I think he has fire but I also do not believe him to be a coach to publicly admonish a player through the press either.

If Garrett is let go, how will Jerrah look like a football genius-know it all? Jerrah told us he's training Garrett and he's said he wants the credit when (if) the team starts winning.

Seems like the answer is before us, huh?

Lol. For me it depends on how the day is going and if I have any more tolerance left for shanigans.
