Garrett has nothing to worry about. Jerry already said wins won't be a deciding factor and now with a defense so paper thin on the defensive line they're already writing in all the excuse cards necessary for why they'll keep him next year.

Bear in mind that some of us have not been complaining about the offense the last 8 years. It's you guys who have been constantly looking for reasons to discount offensive production who've been ignoring the defensive shortcomings the last several seasons. And yet pivot seamlessly as if it's nothing at all as the extent of the defensive shortcomings *finally* get the attention they've been deserving the last 3 seasons.

And, yes, Jason Garrett is the HC and is responsible for the defense as well as the offense.

Of course Garrett-homers haven't been complaining about the offense, because that would mean that they would blame Garrett.

I just love how the defensive shortcomings have finally been getting attention, when it's been subject to way more coaching changes and philosophy than the offense ever was in the last 8 years. I guess Garrett finally getting replaces as OC just last year, after over 7 years, mean's the offense was getting the attention all these years.

As to the defense, I'm not sure how it can possibly be that it's escaped as much criticism as it's deserved the last three years, but it somehow has.

He might be book smart because he went to an ivy league school, I think he is one of the worst in game coaches in the league.

I think that Jason Garrett being HC and not the driver of the design or playcalling on the offense will manifest in two things.

First we will get a better managed offense. I can only imagine the clusterfrick on the sidelines that repeatedly took 30 seconds or more to get the play in down after down after down. Linehan runs the offense with his massively slimmed down verbage and concepts now. We will see less illegal formations, procedures and false starts. Early returns from the first preseason game in this regard are excellent.

Second, the sideline will be run more smoothly. From the Mike Tirico clock fixation perspective, he will no longer be juggling getting the play out quickly and presumably act more quickly and verify more thoroughly his decisions. More than that the game plans as a whole should function better throughout the game. There have been times where getting payers on and off the field and making sure its 11 has been a struggle. Guys go out there that seem clueless as to what they are trying to accomplish.
