And you are stupid because you apparently can't read. I never said anything about replacing.

Furthermore you all are forgetting he started here as a DE and played very well in that role before Fergy got hurt. It is not like he is switching to a position he doesn't play well at. Give me a break. Furthermore he does play DE in certain packages and has played well when given the opportunity to play DE. So I do have some clue, but apparently you don't.
Ratliff is more dominant at NT than DE. Period.

He came on to the scene because of his pressure at DT in nickel/dime packages.

If he was 6'6", 350 I guarantee people aren't *****ing.

If our front 7 needs improving, it can be at ILB (hopefully Jason Williams turns into Kevin Burnett, minus the injuries + mental mistake) or DE (if Spears leaves.) Not at NT.

Calling me stupid because I said your idea was dumb? It looks like 95% of others in this thread agree with me. Ratliff is excelling as one of the best at the NT position. Why on EARTH would you want to take some of his snaps away by signing another NT?

Thats like saying, the Bears should move Urlacher to safety for some snaps and pick up another MLB, Urlacher played really well at safety in college....

the only plays Vince Wilfork made last night were 3-4 yards downfield. Not acceptable for a DT that big. He played very soft last night.

The dude turned into Casper last night, I hardly heard his name called all game. He showed up small in a big game, not a good sign from somebody in a contract year.

Besides, as another poster pointed out, Wilfork's signiture move is to dive at the QB's knees. As a Pat, he can do crap like that and never get flagged but in Dallas he would quickly be the "Flozel of the D line" and be the most penalized lineman in the league.

I say no to Wilfork and Hampton is 33 guys, let the Skins throw $$$ at him.

we don't need any old washed up players. Want to add a NT do it in the draft.

LOL... what exactly makes you think Hampton is "washed up"?? The Steelers are 1st in the NFL in rush defense, tied for 2nd in yards per carry allowed... they're also 3rd in total defense...

And Hampton has started all 11 games on the nose for that top-ranked rush defense... it is his responsibility to shut down the middle, and it sure looks like he's done a good job of it...

And 32 is not particularly old for a nose tackle, like offensive linemen good ones can often play well into their 30s... he could have another 3-5 years of productive play in him...

I swear, the more you post, the clearer it becomes that you know absolutely nothing about the game of football... I'm perfectly happy with Rat on the nose, and even with Siavii, but if we had a chance to get Casey at a discounted price, I'd be all in favor of bringing the ex-Longhorn in, and the Cowboys would be an even better defense if they did... the Boys would be bulletproof at NT, and Rat could on occasion swing out to DE, making it harder for opposing offenses to account for him...

Wishful thinking, at best. Hampton isn't going to sign for less just because some beleive that people won't pay him to be a starter. Some team running a 3-4 will pay him to be a starter.

Damn it, you're probably right... :D

I guess we'll have to settle for Marcus McNeill instead...
