He's on ESPN right now talking about how he almost finished his career outside of Dallas. I remember the Eagles tried to get Aikman a few years back, who was the other team?

While discussing Favre.....admitted to giving consideration to not only signing with another team after his last year with the Cowboys.....but yet another team 2 years afterwards.

How many concussions did he take again?

I thought it was the Raiders cause Norv Turner had just been named their head coach. Thought that fell through cause I doubt Aikman could have passed the physical. Don't forget it wasn't just the concussions he suffered but he also injuried his back and there was talk about his needing another op to fuse some disc together. Mentioned to my brother whose a neurosurgeon and he said such an option for Aikman wasn't a good idea since he already had similar op back around 93/94.

BTW: I found it amusing when I heard Eagles had contacted him. I really can't believe he would even have considered playing for them.

KC for sure. I think he even went there and met with the team and all. He wasn't guaranteed a starting spot though, so I think he opted to retire even though he didn't want to. He was pretty bad those last two years though, so I'm sure he realized he was gonna end up on some other team's bench ala Kurt Warner.

correct, but he also says that its sumthing special for him to just have played for the Dallas Cowboys his entire career.

A question for the millions loyal listeners of Air America Cowboys:

And the teams would have paid Aikman to play or would Aikman pay the teams?
Truly, Aikman was horrible his last year.

He also says he retired because the Cowboys were in disarray -- which is strange, since the Cowboys cut him before he retired.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that he HAD TO retire because the disarray on the team was keeping DFW-area neurologists in business.

His play did slip and if he stayed around another year his play would have been similar to Bledsoe's this year. Aikman took a lot of punishment and his body never could stand up to the strain.
