Definitely hit on that draft pick. Kid is a stud.

Funny, though, I'm always told you can't draft real talent from smaller schools. :muttley:
No one says that.

What you've misinterpreted is that you can't continuously draft players from smaller schools, as there is a reason they went to a smaller school. A high percentage of players from smaller schools bust, so you absolutely must look at each player individually and determine his chance of success, as well as doing a deep dive into his inefficiencies to analyze whether his traits will transfer to the NFL level.

No, we're running behind Zach Martin because his back is failing and then we're abandoning the Run. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Smith is playing close to the original 73 and can play left tackle as well, just like Allen. I think he's the best offensive lineman in football. I really hope this is the last Hall of Famer we waste because he's definitely going to be one on this trajectory.
I cannot see how in the world you can compare LA to Smith. Clearly you never watched LA in his prime
At his best, he was the greatest O lineman I ever saw play. And I have been watching the NFL for over fifty years.

Smith is an All Pro guard only an above average Tackle. Now if we were desperate and had someone that could play his position and do well, and we had a disaster at LT, then move him. BUT Guyton is not a disaster. The only one on the O line right now is Steele.

Our problem isn’t finding OL in round 1. It’s every round after lol. I believe Doug free is the exception but even he took multiple years to become elite

We drafted Connor McGovern in the 3rd and Tyler Biadasz in the 4th. I'd call them hits. They aren't All-Pros, but they're both starters in the league playing on fat second contracts.

I just hope we pay him like a guard and not give him the Martin treatment. Baby didn't want to play LT baby doesn't get LT money.

Solid player even his penalties are down, Smith is one of the few bright spots on this team along with Aubrey.

So you want to overpay Smith to the detriment of the team? I don't understand.

Tyler is more like BIGG, and all pro OG, but just an OK OT. Putting him at OT would waste his talent playing him out of position.
I forgot his name and I'm too lazy right now to look it up. That Detroit pro-bowl rusher who broke his leg, he stayed on Steele's side because Tyler handled him every time he went to that side. I personally think he's a very good OT. No doubt though he's the best player we have right now. Aubrey kicks a football, so I don't list him as a player. But I do agree with you that putting him out of his natural position isn't the best move.

He’s the only real good player we have on the OL.

Of course I watched Larry Allen I his prime. Maybe you're getting confused with the words I'm using. I should have said Tyler Smith reminds me of the original 73.

I've seen every single highlight reel of Larry Allen that's available on the internet, and we were actually friends on Facebook (actually, still are). I was looking forward to meeting him one day and telling him how much I enjoyed watching him play and for being humble enough to accept my request to add me.

You couldn't help but notice him because he was what John Madden talked about the most when we were on offense. If there was an actual highlight reel of Larry Allen of every amazing block and pull he made, it would probably take you 3 hours to watch it.

I remember in 99 I read where a DT that would be facing him asked to be put on the injured list for that game because he knew he was going to be humiliated and wanted an excuse for his family and friends.

Oh yes, I remember hearing about the Allen-itis that would go around midweek before Sunday.

No way.
The oline is the problem.
To include Tyler now.

I'm gonna need to start my scapegoat update card again.

Cuz I thought we were at the offense sucks because the oline sucks this week?

Or have we moved on to presently scapegoating McFraud entirely already?

I need a schedule to keep up.
I know inability to run the ball and stop the run has already been on the scapegoat schedule too...

Is there a mention of the guy who touches every single snap and has the ability change any and every snap before hiking the ball.
Ya know, like the guy in charge of executing the plays.

He executes them alright.
As if in front of a firing line.
LOL

Smith and Ferguson and Tolbert are the 3 guys that look like they want to be out there.
