"Off the charts good", "Best shape of his life", "about to take the next step and become elite"... when are these accolades going to pay off? Where is the Super Bowl at the end of this rainbow?

Frankly, these over the top praises should cease until these players actually do something in the playoffs.
Outside of being healthy, nothing right now means anything.

Tyler did pretty good; the penalty thing still needs serious work. HE is still raw but talented; what we figured from day one.

Everyone thought that he was talented but raw. That he needed a ton of work and refinement before he was ready. His hard work proved them wrong. Nobody could have predicted just how good he would be as a rookie, especially by being forced to play multiple positions due to injuries.

He exceeded all expectations.
I watched him at Tulsa, as I live in Texas and was able to watch him alot with TV coverage. I agree , but that kid always had the traits and I am glad he has great coaching and an even better desire to be great, which can't be measured. I knew it. I always liked the pick, maybe more than many. This is why I trust Will McClay.

They are gonna waste him at LG this year....
Thats 1 issue I wish the staff would resolve. Just start him and leave him there. Stop this experimentation crap. Leave the kid alone. Whether it be at LG or LT, just pick a lane.

He has the desire, which can't be taught. I think he will get better with the flags.

Hope I’m wrong here, but I’m not expecting Tyron Smith to play that much. He has missed 33 games the last 3 years due to injury and hasn’t played a full season since 2015. He was once the absolute best player on the team but his reliability is extremely low. Love the guy but his body is balsa wood.

Tyler Smith on the other hand will probably play the vast majority of the season at LT. Father Time is undefeated and he’s been rapping on Tyron’s door.

And Tyler Smith played very well last year. For a rookie, he was great.
Expect the unexpected…something tells me we see Tyron more then we usually do. Reminds me of Sean Lee got healthy for like one season at the end of his career lol

It’s not an experiment. He’s a great player who can play guard and tackle. This is not him learning a new position. He’s capable.

Why will it be a waste? If he is part of the best 5, and Tyron is at LT, Steele at RT. It is never a waste.
+1. Is ZMartin a waste at RG?

This thought process is unfathomable to me. Just as an adder to that, a lot of the early discussion about changes to the offense have included more movement on the offensive line during run plays. Think pulling guards. While G is certainly valuable, its importance is going to increase this year.

Old tweet but relevant and shows what I am talking about

He is the best LT on the team.
It still comes down to the best 5.
Since you are basically saying Tyler is better than Tyron at LT?

So, if that were the actual case. What if you kick out Tyler to LT, so who plays LG? Whoever it is, is far lesser than Tyler. Therefore the OL is much weaker.
So better to have a lesser LT, as in future HOF player in Tyron, and a much, much more strong LG in Tyler than some bench player. Therefore making the entire OL much better.

I don’t get how people can’t get excited about potentially having Tyler and Tyron on the left side.

Outside of Taco Mama, McClay has been pretty solid with first round picks.

There was a recent thread about who would make a second year jump. Tyler got a mention.

It was then I realized how much better he is going to get. I doubt he has peaked as a rookie.

Thing is, we have had and do have many great players. They’ve done well in that regard. Need to get over the hump as a team somehow.

I’m just asking for one season of Tyron and Tyler on the left side, with Steele and that hall of fame guy on the right and let’s see what may happen. Just one season. Please.

Maybe they should shut this board down until they win a SB. I say only one team per year is allowed to have any message boards. Ya with me!!!
We have the densest fans who don't understand how low a 1 in 32 chance is. And fans who love to hold on to their resentment..

They are gonna waste him at LG this year....
Nah, Tyron won't make it past the preseason before he's out with an injury.
