Tyler Smith should be starting at LT

I agree although I would let Bass and Hoffman fight it out to see who gets to start at LG.
Agreed. Bass struggled throughout the game, but he played his best game during the last/winning TD drive. Both Bass and Hoffman can alternate at Left Guard until one of them solidifies it.

Steele is pretty awful. He is routinely beat at least 3 times a game by any decent pass rusher. It's like he is legally blind with concrete shoes added. The only thing he is halfway good at is run blocking.

I don’t want to give the impression that it’s giving up on Guyton. I still think Guyton can/will ultimately be good.

But right now:

Tyler smith at LT and Bass at LG. Is better than

Guyton at LT and Smith at LG.

So, if we want to win games right now. That should be the lineup.
Hard to argue with this. I might also give Richards a shot at RT. Steele is terrible.

This should be the starting O-line alignment:

LT: Tyler Smith
LG: Brock Hoffman
C: Cooper Beebe
RG: Zack Martin
RT: Tyler Guyton (his natural college position)
I’m just not sold on Guyton at all. But I do like this lineup. I think Hoffman has the potential to be one of the top linemen on this team. Love his nastiness.

The thing is, id you don't think this is a SB caliber team it's best to leave Guyton where he his to get better. He's a hard worker and I think he'll be good. Very rare for a rookie LT to come in and not have some learning pains.

@HungryLion i agree. I know fans and even Duke say its not smart to move a guy thats an all pro at one position to a position is isnt as good at. But what sense does that make if the OL cant function?

Guyton is not better than Steele right now. He's not better than anyone else.

Tyler should have been the starting LT 2 years ago after he dominated Nick Bosa in the playoffs.

Guyton shouldn't be this bad as a first round talent, he reminds me of the old Bill Parcells saying, looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.
Smith and Martin both at guards is not so dominant inside that the run game explodes into success. With Smith out at Tackle and someone else moved inside, there is success shown in the Dallas run game and pass protection as well. Maybe Guyton can be moved over to right tackle with further improvement also.

I agree. It’s funny how things play out. I actually think Guyton needs some time to develop. Taking a few weeks to watch on the bench might be good for him.

Guyton was never ready to play against NFL starters. He should be competing for snaps at RT. But I understand why they are forcing him to start while he's not ready.

I've been saying it all offseason and training camp that Tyler Smith should be the left tackle and Bass be the left guard.....I just thought Guyton was too raw to be starting at left tackle.....

Smith to LT
Guyton to RT

Cut Steele and just eat the dead money
