Tyler Smith should be starting at LT

I don’t want to give the impression that it’s giving up on Guyton. I still think Guyton can/will ultimately be good.

But right now:

Tyler smith at LT and Bass at LG. Is better than

Guyton at LT and Smith at LG.

So, if we want to win games right now. That should be the lineup.
To defend Guyton a little. Pittsburgh's right OLB, who was playing because Highsmith was out, was out on that final drive. Now, Smith is better at tackle than what we've seen from Guyton, but the end getting hurt definitely gave Smith an advantage in this one. (Both surrendered a sack/half-sack to Herbig before he left the game, I believe.)

Guyton at LT was one of many signs that we weren't that interested in winning this year.
Still, giving him snaps is how he gets better.

Already tried. Tyler struggled at LT.

Or they were hoping that he would easily transition into his position the way Tyler Smith did his rookie year.

Move Guyton to RT and get rid of Steele

Move Guyton to RT and get rid of Steele in the off season.
Actually benching him next week isn't the worst idea

Yes let guyton work on the side. I always wanted smith and bass on the left.

Sure, but do you really want to take a top 5 OG and make him a bottom 10 OT?

He’s not bottom 10.

I want an OT that can actually block out there.

I’m not talking about a permanent change. Im talking short term.

In defense of Guyton, he only had EIGHT GAMES AT RT in college

it was foolish of the FO and coaching staff to think he could step right in and do well at LT

Tyler was better than average as a rookie OT; certainly better than Guyton
he should be a fair amount better at LT now

Stephen Jones spoke on this topic today. If Guyton is healthy, Smith stays at guard.

He emphasized that young guys need to continue to grow and develop.

Smith should definitely stay at LT. Guyton and Mazi are both terrible. Last two firsts really holding us back.

Tyler should have been the starting LT 2 years ago after he dominated Nick Bosa in the playoffs.

Guyton shouldn't be this bad as a first round talent, he reminds me of the old Bill Parcells saying, looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

Lol, The Greatest Press Conference Coach ever - loved his sayings

He might be. Never played there long enough to really rate him, but had major problems mirroring. Not seeing how that's gone away.

Interesting you have Hoffman over Bass? I curious why you feel that way?
Bass played great during the last, game-winning TD drive. He struggled during previous play throughout the game. PFF had him rated the lowest. I thought Hoffman did ok the few plays he got to play. That personal foul penalty on Hoffman was garbage by the refs. It's close between Bass and Hoffman, but Hoffman is quicker and a little more athletic, hence why I chose him over Bass. Either one would work.
