Gotcha. IMO, he was never NFL caliber.

He perplexes me, much like he did his college coaches. He's got nice size, good quickness and decent strength. His tools say he could be a great player, which is why Dallas took him, but he doesn't seem to understand how to play the game. He seems to still think tools can get it done when they are nothing without great technique. Size and speed are negated if you can't keep leverage or use your hands to keep the OL from getting their hands all over you. We see him flash occasionally based off raw talent, but most of the times he's easily negated because of the technique failings.

Other reports said Hill has been disruptive in TC without pads. And been looking good.
I guess pads make a difference for one play.

Hill should be on notice. This is his make or break TC.
Or one play doesn’t say much lol
smith is a powerful guy but he looks so slim
Somebody needs to get that kid some hamburgers

Short video showing our 2022 #1 pick blowing up our 2019 #2 pick. Hill has to be on bust watch- and not just because of this one video.

Several reports from Cowboys beat writers Clarence Hill and David Moore have said Hill has been less than stellar so far this summer. It’s early- first day in pads. But the clock has to be ticking for Trysten Hill.

Wasn't Hill a final draft-day gift from Rod Marinelli?

Love to see this from Smith, but no one i've ever seen in the NFL ends up in the ground, spinning around off balanced or pushed to at the 2nd level more than Trysten Hill. But, still good to see from Smith and since I don't see any chance of Hill making the 53 without injuries there's no downside to seeing him get manhandled by a rookie IMO

Uhh I’m pretty sure they’d call that for holding…..

Didn't look like a hold at all to me actually. Hill loses leverage almost immediately which puts him off balance. Smith doesn't have to wait until he regains balance nor did Smith pull him to the ground. It was a natural progression of blocking someone who'd lost balance.

He showed flashes before his injury
Now he will have to battle for a spot on the 53.

I don’t think it should be called but typically that looks like a routine holding penalty.

Hill isn’t going to make the 53. And that’s okay. It was a bad pick and we all knew it.

Tyler Smith is coming along great. He is a powerful man. Although I am curious where are you getting that Hill has been less than stellar this summer? That runs in exact opposite of everything I’ve seen on Twitter about Hill so far.

Nah, not really. It was a run play to our right, so had Hill pursued the ball that direction and Smith got a hand outside to jerk him back and slam him down that's one thing. But Hill was off balance almost immediately and couldn't run one way or another because he had a face full of Smith on him pushing him backwards. There was no jerk, twist, grab, etc. to prevent Hill from pursuit because Hill never mustered pursuit as he was trying to regain balance. Even if that was a run up the middle that wouldn't have been holding.

Here's a tackle holding example by 76 on the left to stop a pursuit of the ball. This was not that.

You're telling me in the past two years you've never seen a Cowboy get called for a holding like that? I've seen in too many times.

If Hill has to straight up take on a guard he’s getting pancaked every time. He was drafted to shoot gaps and sneak past interior linemen. He’s a pretzel waiting to happen.

I mean no one really knew it. Will McClady and Maranelli sure didn't know it. Fans assumed it because he wasn't "high on their board". Either way, hope he can find a rotational spot.

Unless someone whined about it and I went and grabbed tape to examine it to see if the whine was legit, nope, lol.
