Patrick Mahomes is widely known as the best quarterback in the league so why did choose a different strategy when they traded Hill than the Cowboys when trading Cooper?

They traded Hill and added JuJu, MVS in free agency then drafted Sky Moore in the 1st round and traded for Kadarius Toney during the season.

Those 4 players combined for 156 receptions 2041 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The Cowboys traded Cooper for a 5th rounder and added TY, Turpin and Washington in free agency, drafted Tolbert and Houston (udfa).

Those players combined for 12 receptions for 182 yard and 0 touchdowns.

Dak has his issues but this was a massive failure of the front office.
And a lot of us pointed out the folly of how the cowboys addressed the WR position shortly after the draft last year. Very few were happy on the return from the Amari Cooper trade that sent him to Cleveland for peanuts. But nobody predicted gallup would be so ineffective this year and a shadow of his former self.

Mahomes makes everyone around him better.

JuJu is a glorified Noah Brown. Big slow slot guy.
Toney never plays
MVS is average
Sky Moore is a raw rookie
Look at this lunacy.

JuJu has been a pro bowler. He's had a 111 catch, 1400 yard season. "Glorified Noah Brown"- WTH?

MVS, if anyone, is closer to Brown.

It’s all about Mahomes and Andy Reid.

The names at WR do not matter. He’s that good.

IMO, he’s the most talented QB of all time and I’ve been saying that for years.
Mahomet is good but all time good?

Imagine Marino throwing today. First the DB game at LOS, down the field, and ball in flight is no where near as physical. Which allows for larger windows to throw the ball. Now add the watered down pass rush and QB protection rules. Marino instant release, accuracy, and pocket feel all working with these rules would be unreal. I call 7000 yard season.

You said it in your first sentence.

You take away Mahomes and those guys aren't putting up those numbers.

Mahomes is the difference maker here.
Would you say that overall, excluding the qb, that the Cowboys wr group is better than the Chiefs group?

MVS had 6 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Don’t forget about the importance of a “great” OC. Something we haven’t had in 3 decades.

While I understand the point that is trying to be made here, it was a failure to replace.

This isn't exactly accurate. They signed guys to actually play in place of hill. We also signed Gallup, who was horrible but more productive than those listed.

Brown also had an elevated role as a result of the trade and, while not great, did produce for the 5th wr he should be.

TY was a handful of games too.

But if you did that....

94 catches for 1161 and 7 tds.

So, Cowboys failed to replace but these numbers make great memes but not exactly truthful.
My argument is that they didn’t rely on “in house” or best case scenarios to replace their number 1 wr. They were aggressive and are in the Super Bowl because of it.

They were...but the numbers disparity wasn't the gap that was shown in the OP.

You’re right but we bought what the front office was selling us. They are ones that sign him off of a major near injury and expected number 2 play.

CeeDee would be the best WR on the Chiefs.

JuJu is probably better than Gallup though, but I don't think it's a huge gap.

Noah Brown had more TDs, 1 less reception, and 100 less yards than Valdes-Scantling.

So I would say yes. Dallas has the better WR group overall.

Well, they clearly expected more out of him. I have to think we are going ot sign a big name this offseason. My idea is to try and pry DJ Moore out of Carolina. When they signed him to that contract last march, they didn't know they would be firing the coach mid-season and rebuilding.

Come on man. We’re comparing one of the best offensive minds to ever do it paired with a generational hall of fame talent to a 4th round qb AND kellen moore. It ain’t fair I tell you hwhat

I hear ya, but he has elite speed for his size, and every year it will drop a bit. But what are u willing to pay? At what cost to the defense?
I'm thinking he may hold out this year, what's he worth?
I'd rather draft a QB who will allow us to be contenders for 10 years. At the same time add a middle collapsing DT.
it will drop off if we continue to subject Parsons to pound-grind vs 340 lbs OTs.
That's a coaching issue. That's a coaching scheme. That's sumthin' we can change and further stretch.

- It does not have to be every year drop off, if we have the proper coaching .. if we don't have the proper coaching then

- If Micah should hold out, even though his rookie contract is not up, then we'll be willing to make him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL..
He is currently our very best player ..Period. Whether offensively or defensively.

- He's clearly that " War Daddy " we've very long been looking for - thought DLaw would be but - and those type guys simply do not fall off trees.
We sadly missed out on TJ Watts being that type impact guy when we had the chance ... we will not (should not)... do that with Parsons.

Parsons is the Patrick Mahomes of defenders.

People who talk negatively about him are just football fools. He’s a generational talent as a pass rusher.

As a linebacker he’s a jag.
What kind of LB are you talking about him with his game ?

Off the ball LB ... or a TJ Watt edge OLB ?

And with the off the ball LB type game, ..if you're rushing him forward on every snap like a DE, .how would he ever developed into a top off ball LB ?

It's not only that
I don't know that what kind of a contract Jerry is gonna sign Parsons too, that we're gonna regret 2 years later lol
My concern is that if they keep playing him at DE where he going up against OT's that outweigh him by 50 to 100 pounds
How long before he is just used up?
He's having nagging injuries already and he only played 2 years.
They are gonna have to be smarter with him, if he is to have a long career.
