Patrick Mahomes is widely known as the best quarterback in the league so why did choose a different strategy when they traded Hill than the Cowboys when trading Cooper?

They traded Hill and added JuJu, MVS in free agency then drafted Sky Moore in the 1st round and traded for Kadarius Toney during the season.

Those 4 players combined for 156 receptions 2041 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The Cowboys traded Cooper for a 5th rounder and added TY, Turpin and Washington in free agency, drafted Tolbert and Houston (udfa).

Those players combined for 12 receptions for 182 yard and 0 touchdowns.

Dak has his issues but this was a massive failure of the front office.
There were smart people on this board, definitely smarter than the two Jones boys, who saw this coming in July and August. They knew that there was a WR deficiency. How could you count on Gallup coming off major surgery (and wouldn't even be ready at the start of the year) and a raw rookie in Tolbert? Then Washington gets hurt and they did................... zip.

What makes this even worse is that the Cowboys HAD HISTORY TO BACK THEM UP. They tried the similar "WR room by committee, people gotta step up" scheme a few years ago. Dak struggled and they had to go use a first round pick to trade for Cooper.

A few years later, they basically tried the same thing. Anyone with a brain knew they were short at WR.

Thats BS. I'm here all year. Sure there is always a few but thats hardly the majority. When the team awards a contract that size, it is acting on information directly from the doctors involved in the treatment. There was ZERO reason to think Gallup would be as bad as he was this year.
You undersell how many people stated that banking on Gallup coming back 100% when a lot of players take a year to get their legs back was not smart.

I should know. I was one of the ones saying it back in July and August when I argued they were short on WRs.

I love the mental gymnastics of the Dak-haters. Both Dallas and KC lost a pro-bowl-level receiver. KC replaced him with several solid vets and a first-round draft pick. Dallas replaced Cooper JAGs and a third-round draft pick. - And it's Dak's fault - it actually boggles that mind that Dak lives in some of your minds so much. Nothing at all about how Jerry and the FO dropped the ball, nothing about how we were still able to have an effective offense and win a playoff game. Just Dak sucks. Hilarious!!!
Dak can't decide which receiver to throw it to. To blame anyone but Dak in the playoff loss is the only mental gymnastics I see.

It boggles our minds how little about football you understand.

Swap receiving corps with KC, and both teams would still be exactly where they are this week.
I doubt that seriously. Dak lost 2 of his top 3 WRs who were replaced with nobodies. That would negatively affect Mahomes and any other quarterback.

Andy and Mahomes are a big reason but let’s not kid ourselves.

Juju is a former Pro Bowler in the prime of his career.
Toney is a first round pick.
MVS speed deep threat who’s solid.
Skyye Moore is a first rounder.
Found Pachego in the 7th round who outproduced Zeke.

This is how you make up for Tyreke Hill. Had they for James Washington and Jalen Tolbert they would’ve been cooked. Simple roster management.

Maybe Dak shouldn't have ran to daddy crying about Amari Cooper calling him
a black Kirk Cousins.

Dak is not elite. Dak is not mahomes. Mahomes is a HOFer in the making. why are you comparing Dak to Mahomes?

and how do we get a mahomes? sounds like you got penu$ envy...or is it QB envy...Mahomes doesn't grow on trees. there is no 1-800-ELITEQB number to call and order one. I looked through amazon and couldn't find any Elite QBs. Ebay came up empty and so did craigslist. so find me one please. tell us who in this year's draft is the next mahomes and we go get one.
What I'm trying to show is that even if you have an elite qb like Mahomes, you must try to put to notch weapons around him, don't just get JAGs and expect him to elevate them. The Chiefs are in the Super Bowl due to what they did AFTER losing their number 1 wr and we're not due to what we didn't do.

I never saw where that was verified but I do think that Dak didn't fight for Cooper and got on board with the Tolbert draft so last season is on him due to being quiet and just letting his number 1 go to the browns.

The OP is talking about apples and oranges. Getting rid of Amari Cooper isn't what kept us out of the Super Bowl. Look no further than your QB throwing INTs. If not for that, we could have easily been the NFC representative in the coming SB.

Just shows how Jerry and Stephen as so inept being GM and Manager of Personnel. They really don't know what their doing but they pretend as if their really football guys.

You're right, it was never, and never will be, verified.
Like they say on the news "allegedly"... lol

But c'mon, it came from somewhere close to the team... really close.
I know, if I was a friend of Amari, I'd mention it constantly to him just to
make him laugh. Also, I think he did say it and that's the real reason he's gone.

Plus, it's always fun to pull the chain on those who take the board waaaay too seriously.

I agree. the myth of a QB doing it alone is just that a Myth. but elite QBs can take those weapons into the best offense, wins in playoffs and superbowls. that's the difference.

You can use Massive Failure and Front Office in the same sentence a lot with this Franchise.
Extremely poorly run team.
If not for McClay, this team would be no longer be relevant.
Actually this team has been well run as far as front office. The past 2 seasons we finally have a defense, a respectable HC (while not my favorite). To just say Jerry is the problem (and he is, I blame him for a ton of it) is a little bit of a cop out at this point. This team should have gone further this year but the QB completely **** the bed. It would be great if he wasn't so bipolar. Has the game of his life one week against a bad team and then one of the worst games against a good team. He just isn't good enough to beat good-great teams. It has been that way through his entire career.

If you thought Gallup would have a good year you're delusional. He was never a guy to separate and had a major injury.

I didnt even want to resign him (I preferred we went after chark)

Strong case to be made that Mahomes is the most talented QB of all time.
