He's only going to practice twice over the next 14 days per DMN, so its not just a veteran rest day. 26 is far too young for a rest day anyway.

The fact they feel the need to protect him like that should raise an eyebrow or two. I have no issue giving a guy like this or Lee or some other vet a day here or there. But basically give him off for almost every practice the next 2 weeks?

Yeah, I tend to think that's a red flag here. The fact they feel the need to protect him like that should raise an eyebrow or two.

Yeah, if that she truly the case and he's going 2 days out of 14? That's cause for concern. You're certainly not going to be able to maintain a schedule like that once the games and practices count.

And if this thing is an issue now, did they possibly make a mistake in thinking it could simply be "managed"?

in his presser garrett didn't act like he would practice tomorrow either says its not related to same thing last year said they will be deliberate with bringing him back I would think that this is really worrisome thing but maybe not

Although Garrett said the following according to DC.com:

Garrett, Cowboys Not Alarmed By Smith’s Back Issues

smith_tyron-hs.jpg

(Aug. 9; 12:27 p.m.) Last year, Tyron Smith fought through back and neck injuries all season, even sitting out a couple of games near the end of the regular season.

While he’s been relatively healthy all summer long, Smith has now started to experience more issues with his back, causing him to sit out of a few practices over the last two weeks. And even when he’s returned, Smith hasn’t looked himself, getting beat a few times in pass-rushing drills.

Head coach Jason Garrett said Smith is dealing with “tightness” in his back but doesn’t seem overly concerned at this point.

“We don’t think issue is related to anything in his past,” Garrett said. “For a guy like that, we just want to be deliberate bringing him back.”

Garrett said Smith won’t practice on Wednesday, but that was more scheduled as six other vets – Bryant, Witten, Crawford, Lee, Scandrick and McFadden are taking veteran rest days.

When have you heard the team shut tony down for two weeks because of his back when he was fully healed?

Haven't heard of Smith getting two back surgeries either.

It's different with QBs in practice because they don't get hit.

Tony had two surgeries and was 100% healthy after both.

Tyron is 26, had this same injury last season, and its already bothering him again.

I just hope he's able to lift and stay in decent football shape. Not attending practice is something he can get away with, but it'd be much more worrisome if he can't do any physical activity at all

You aren't getting a quality LT at this time of year. It just doesn't happen. Just like you don't get a quality pass rushing DE at this time of year. There are gonna be warts with anyone you trying getting now.

I find it funny that after he gets beat badly by Lawrence that there is something wrong with him.
Then I'll laugh with you cuz' some of those guys do take it personal as they got to believe upstairs in their mind that they are the best,,, I can see where the heated dust ups get lit during practices,, it would just take some **** talking from the dude your lining up across from that's keeping score also, and pointing it out that he's beating you easy,,,:lmao:
Sometimes a walkaway from feigned injury is employed:lmao2::lmao::lmao2:

Tony Romo had to have shots before every game and if he was ever forced to waiver from his routine...we would see a Thanksgiving flop.

Maybe this is a serious issue...maybe it's not. I am certain the team is being very careful regardless of how serious it is. It is a smart idea to limit any contact for Smith if he is feeling any tightness---he doesn't need the reps and it's probably a good thing for the team to give those reps to another tackle on the team considering our lack of depth there.
