Nice of USC to keep throwing up 45, gave us some nice looks at his pass pro
cowboyjoe;3887239 said:Part of that is very true, the potential. But if you know what your watching and seeing its there. The hands, has huge hands, the nastiness when he wants too, and ability to slide while reaching 2nd level. Kinda like what doug free does too reaching 2nd level, thats what Jason Garrett wants, athletic linemen, moreso than big maulers.
Then, remember now, this kid is only 20. Just think in 2 years, the growth and strength, will only get bigger and stronger when reaches about 24 or so, he already is at 307, and tall too.
Only issue i have, basically only played 2 years, and then this year had knee injury, which is kept him from running at combine, but if he blows it up at his proday on April 1st, at 307, say run a 4.9 or so. He will move up draft boards, if knee is solid and ok too.
I am alittle wary of USC OT's with jacob rogers, and way eagles winston justice has played. Giants DE ate him up his rookie year in one game. And Justice was light weight too.
Best to my memory, one more OT has played well for Falcons who drafted him, but since that time, Munoz was only best OT to come out of USC to my memory, and that was years ago.
Yet, on potential, this kid reminds me of a very young Rayfield Wright who we drafted as a TE, who Coach Landry put at OT. Wright grew into the OT position and was dominant. This kid looking at him on film reminds me of Rayfield alittle.
Again, just my view points.![]()

TheFinisher;3887225 said:All I see is an undersized positional blocker that lacks a mean streak, I hear "potential" with him all the time but truth is there are tons of guys in every draft that have potential. You don't spend top 10 picks on potential, at least smart teams don't.
Gaede;3887246 said:Agreed. I understand wanting athletes at CB, WR but the OL is a different game. I'm looking for is a guy that is 1) mean 2) smart 3) a football player.
The NFL has a growing fascination with athletic freaks of nature, but time and time again, the guys who succeed are the maulers, the smart guys, and the overachievers. That's what this game is all about.
All this talk about a guy who wasn't the best in college, projecting him to a position we already have filled--it's as though we're outsmarting ourselves. We don't need a blockbuster right tackle. We need a football player. I know we like our shiny toys on the Cowboys, but why can't it just be so simple as getting the big, ugly, mean guys? That's exactly what this team lacks!

We have a LT. We need a RT.
Why aren't we talking about our high 2nd rounder and if we could trade it up a bit to get the RT prospect that will be sitting around there?
Carimi or Sherrod will be there at the bottom of the first, early second.
They play better than Smith anyways and have actually played LT.
Carimi can play all over the line.
Sherrod can play LT or RT and wouldn't have a problem playing guard either.
Both can start at RT immediately.
Then we can decide if we want to grab a guard in other rounds or a RT or guard in FA because either of those players give us the flexibility to do so without using our 9th overall pick or having to trade out of it.
realtick;3887515 said:1) Smith, along with some of the others you named could be that RT.
2) Why would you when you could trade out of #9 down into the teens and pick up a few draft picks?
3) Ssshhhh, I'm sure glad we have an NFL insider here at the Zone. The fact that you've talked to all 32 teams and got the scoop on who they'll be taking is an absolute treasure.
4) Personal opinion.... and Carimi never played OG at Wisconsin, he played it in drills at the Senior Bowl. Please tell me you don't think that's adequate proof he can play the position?
Completely unsubstantiated...lol
Glad to see Nostradamus frequents this message board...
5) The post above is what happens when you mistake your personal opinion and pass it off as fact and replace reality with what you think will surely happen.
Unbelievable.
realtick;3887519 said:An absolute gem of a post.
Gotta love it when personal opinion is passed off as fact and when reality is trashed for what you're just sure will happen.
Funny, we need a RT, but we don't want the guy that actually played RT in college.
Weird, apparently you know with all surety that Carimi and Sherrod can play guard despite the fact that neither played that in college. And don't think Carimi lining up at gaurd for drills at Senior Bowl is the same thing as actually playing OG.
It's incredible, the fact you were able to talk to all 32 NFL teams and find out what their draft plans are. Specifically, the fact that you know Carimi and Sherrod will be "at the bottom of the first, early second."
Your insider knowledge is a real treasure to the board.

Bro, you talk with nothing to back it up and then when you get straightened out you edit your posts.
Got you quoted in the response anyways.
You know why you changed your post after I responded to it?
Cause you got handled.
You hate on more insightful people and then change your post like the coward hater you are.
You're soft hater.

realtick;3887785 said:Lol, I edited my post because it came off a bit too harsh, well before you even posted that long-winded response.
Your entire post was one unsubstantiated claim after the other. Now you're grasping for straws because you know you can't back up a thing you asserted.
When do you respond to anything I wrote? Please lay it out for me or ask one of the mods to put my original post back up.

This whole thread is pathetic. You have two or three posters patting each other on the back each repeating what the other two said and thinking it means anything.
bbgun;3887852 said:It's about time somebody posted the "bad" parts of his game instead of mindlessly posting highlight videos--which is what ESPN will do on draft day.
Hoofbite;3887869 said:What the heck, people.
How am I supposed to pursue my dream of being a scout if you guys can't tell me how to spot a "mean streak" in a YouTube video.
Come on guys, don't let me down here!!!!!!
