Twitter: Tyron Smith says goodbye

There are two types of incentives: likely to reach and unlikely to reach.

If it is a likely to reach, you need to save cap space this year to cover it. If it is unlikely to reach and he reaches it, it comes out of next year’s cap space.

What determines likeliness to reach is previous season’s results. Tyron played 13 games. So if he has big incentives for 10 games, 12 games, 14 games, and 17 games… you have to save room for 10 and 12 game incentives this year because they’re likely to be earned due to his performance last year. If he doesn’t get those then it is freed up cap space that Carries over to next year. But for the 14 and 17 game incentives, those are unlikely to be earned because he didn’t play that many games last year, so if he reaches them it’ll come out of next year’s cap.
Thanks, Aerolithe_Lion for the information.
What site do NFL fans need to pull to educate themselves further?

Thanks for mutton. Don't let your arm braces hit you in the *** on your way out.

Now this one is a bummer,I really thought we would re sign him..sad day for cowboy fans.

Kind of surprising that isn't a "likely to be earned" incentive that counts against the Jets current cap.
It is. Tyron is currently counting $12.25 million on the Jets salary cap since he played 71% of the snaps with Dallas last year. That is the LTBE cap hit the Jets will take this year. If he doesn't meet that playing time then the Jets get a credit back on the cap for next year and if he exceeds that playing time then the extra cap hit happens next year.

So Tyron got a $4.5 million signing bonus and a $2 million guaranteed salary and will count $12.5 million against the Jets CAP this year. Next year's cap hit or credit for the Jets will be determined based on how many of the incentives he triggers.

OTC didn't have it counting but have updated it now and they also updated his comp pick projection to a 5th round pick.

Love Tyron and thank him for being a great player and Dallas Cowboy.

With that said, it was time to move on.

Last year was an anomaly for him the last few years.

They held him out of practices to try to keep him healthy for the games and he played in more games than in some years but still lost time.
Still worth what the Jets are paying.

We let a cowboys legend who still had some juice and got signed for a cheap contract walk just so the org could save some pennies they are going to do nothing with.

I'm surprised we let him walk, we usually hang onto folks way too long. As much as I hate to see him go, I think this was probably a good call rather than keep him until he is no longer serviceable.

Insane career. One of my top 10 favorite cowboys. This is how Canton would list his resume based on how they do the accolades

All decade team
9x pro bowl
8x NFL top 100 (likely 9x by this summer)
4x First Team all pro
1x Second team all pro

Didn't get a ring but a gold jacket isn't a bad alternative

Go get that ring big fellow. Go get that ring like many others have gotten after theyve left here.

We appreciate you big guy, and we are sorry you had to hold your block forever so our MVP could look bewildered and lost trying to find a guy open, but we do appreciate you.
