Let's look around the NFL at top tackles, shall we?

-Rashawn Slater was pro-bowler his first season. He will miss 16 games this season
-All world Trent Williams has missed games in each of his past five seasons
-Eric Fisher former NFL No. 1 overall pick, 2021 pro bowler, missed half of 2019. Injuries have sidelined him all of this year
-Pro Bowl Laremy Tunsil missed 12 games last season, two this year already
-Pro Bowl Terron Armstead has missed 36 games to injury since 2014
-Pro Bowl David Bakhtiari has missed 23 games over the past 3 seasons

Need I go on? I've got dozens more. It's football. Tackles get hurt a lot. They miss games. Is what it is.

Adjust your childish notions, and quite snipping at Smith. Call him glass? You don't know what you're talking about.

Nice research haven’t heard this angle before, definitely something to consider.

YEah I don't understand why everyone is so quick to dismiss him. His contract is nice. I need him for playoff runs I could care less how many regular season games he misses. This team NEEDS him come playoffs to win in the trenches.

Tyron:
-PFF score for 2021: 91.4!
-Allowed only two sacks over 11 games played.

For anyone engaging in it...stop slamming one of our Cowboys warriors.

You may feel he's criticized too much but listing other oft injured players doesn't really change that he's an oft injured player.

I didn't hunt for a list of frequent players. I just looked at list of recent pro bowl tackles! This is the nature of the business!

Definitely understand this take, lot of contact at these positions for sure and injuries will happen. However, Tyron has definitely been injured more than the majority of starting LTs the last several years. Before 2020 he atleast had 4 straight years playing 13 games a season and missing him for 3 a year was much more manageable. When he's healthy he's a heck of a player and I'll be glad to get him back in the mix for the late season push. However, based on his availability, his contract that looked like a bargain is now flipping the other way.

Lls y’all will say anything to justify your favorite player missing 30% of snaps for like 7 years. Just stop

Thank you! People wanting him to be gone when he's still playing at a high level with a nice contract are super unrealistic to harp on a few sacks. Yes he gets injured but he's still damn good and is a major asset. His contract was so team friendly it isn't even funny.

Armstead has never, not once played a full season. He had missed a total of 48 games in 9 seasons going into this year!

Yup. But...
Shhh...brattish 4 year-olds are asleep. Wouldn't want to wake them.

I suppose when warriors get hurt battling for our teams...we should denounce them. Spit on them. Our 4-year old demands weren't satisfied.

In a vacuum you're correct, however, those players are either on cheaper deals, on teams with greater CAP availability AND none of them have had the recent persistent injury record of Tyler.

Tyler has had three years of more than the expected/acceptable 3/4 games off per season...and last year he just wasnt the same player after coming back from injury. He's averaging (AT BEST) 6 games per over the past 3 seasons and we just cant afford to pay him $17.5m for that production.

Have we missed him, or has the O-Line performed with a rookie at LT?

Then look at next year, we've got just over $7m to spend (after signing draft) and provided we dont sign OBJ....but we're losing ....Brown, Steele, so we need a RT and CB. We also need to spend on replacing Basham, Fowler, Watkins, Hankins, Barr, LVE, Wilson, Pollard, Peters, McGovern, Brown....unless we expect a long list of JAG's and 'hope' on rookie development.

The clear decision is whether he'd accept a severe team friendly restructure in the off season, or we cut and better spend the saved $9m. Perenial ALL-PRO, HoF player in his prime, but that was then ....unfortunately.

Tyron missed one game in his first five seasons. He's missed 39, and counting, the next seven seasons. Father Time is catching up to him, just like everyone else.
Wasn't he 19 or 20 when he entered the league?

I don't think Father Time catches people when they're 25 years old.

His back problems are unfortunate, but some of his injuries where just plain bad luck, like getting rolled up on.
