Ronaldo still remains the best player in the world IMO, doing what he does in the premiership is unreal This could be the 2nd seaosn in a row that he finishes top scorer, that is unheard of in the premiership.
.

you mean like when Thierry Henry was the top scorer in the Premier League for 3 years in a row? could have been 5 if it wasn't for 1 goal by van Nistelrooy

alan shearer top scorer seasons 94/95, 95/96 and 96/97 and as thekavorka said henry 03/04, 04/05 and 05/06. also ronaldo has scored 15 goals this season. yes thats impressive given his position but its not as if he's scored a startling amount of goals and blown the competition out the water, for example he hit 31 last season and this looks like being the lowest scoring top scorer since dion dublin in the 97/98 season

It's tough to decide my favorite Bergkamp goal. Either the Newcastle goal or maybe the WC98 goal.

one of the best goals ever scored. don't know how many times i've tried to turn a defender like this and maybe pulled it off twice

thought i'd put your other choice on with a crazy dutch commentator

i was at the games the first and third video came from, two of the best nights i've ever had. love the line about 40 seconds into the third video "parkhead responds as only parkhead can" i ended up about 4 rows in front of my seat when that went in and then when boruc saved the penalty just before full time my leg ended up jammed in the seat in the row in front of me, was bruised for about a fortnight :D

still wasn't as bad as a game in france against lyon in the champions league in 2002. i nearly broke my dads nose when we scored that night. we were watching the game in a celtic pub in glasgow city centre that was absolutely rammed, there was hardly enough room to stand up let alone move. anyway when we scored i jumped up and turned to grab my old man. unfortunately everyone else had moved when they jumped which meant i landed on someones ankle and knocked my dad flat on his back and landed on top of him with my forearm across the bridge of his nose. luckily the only injury he got was a cut on his nose from his glasses that i broke as i landed.
just to show you how busy that pub gets heres a video from may last year when we wrapped up the league, it was the last day of the season and really tense until aberdeen scored their second against rangers that meant we could relax which is about a minute ten into the video. the fire brigade don't allow anywhere near as many people in these days so there were probably close to double the number of people in it the night i was talking about

Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer are strikers, Ronaldo is not.

My post was referring to a winger being top scorer two years in a row, that is unheard of....that is correct. Now, Ronaldo clearly doesn't want to be at Man Utd because he looks very frustrated and is sulking a lot, that hasn't stopped him from being top scorer in the most difficult league in the world. Ronaldo has the most complete game of any player in world football IMO, pace, power, two good feet, great heading ability, scores goals...Messi is amazing as well, just not as complete as Ronaldo.

I hate yours as well man, gotta love how the Old Firm devide works lol. Bougherra's a cracking big player though.

Shaping up to be a fantastic end to our season here, Old Firm game could decide the title.

according to the evening times today theres a chance of an old firm league decider now. first date after the split is the may bank holiday weekend and the police don't want the game played then as there was apparantly too much trouble last bank holiday game between the two. second weekend theres a womens fun run that ends at bellahouston park so they don't think that would work, not sure why they don't just make it a half twelve saturday start? hopefully it is the third game after the split though as brown is suspended for the first two.

Yep, I heard that this morning.

When we won the title at Parkhead a few years back it caused a LOT of trouble and they said they would never allow an old firm title decider again, they might not have a choice this year. I think trouble will follow the next OF game regardless of when they have it, it's just a crucial game. I'd have it either the day before the fun run or earlier that day...a fun run should never interfere with an Old Firm game as far as I'm concerned.

i'd have it when browns back from suspension but realistically the day before the fun run at half twelve kick off yes. was going to say the last day of the season but i don't think my nerves could take that. would imagine there will be trouble but hopefully theres nothing too major

I think if they pick a game that Brown is missing through suspension they will try and make it the same game that Bougherra is missing through suspension. I would rather have both teams at full strength scrapping it out for the title though, that would be fantastic...but it would also be one of the most nerve-shredding games ever.

I don't see a way to prevent trouble, if it is a game that severaly impacts the title race (which it will be) then the hatred will be too much to contain I think. I hope there isn't, but it may not be avoidable.

It all depends on the result really, if we win then I'll be partying all night and most of the next day regardless ot trouble lol. If we lose though, I'll be too depressed to even leave the house.

I wonder how many goals in the PL by Ronaldo have either been from free kicks or from the penalty spot.

And Ronaldo hasn't really played like a Winger this year. He rarely tracks back anymore, leaving his defenders(Gary Neville) hung out to dry.

The majority of his goals come from open play, he doesn't score many from free-kicks, it's just that when they do go in they are spectacular and get a lot of attention. He plays the way he is told to play, get the ball and cause problems, he's not asked to track back all the time because it's not why he's there.

Ronaldo, Messi, Robben and several of the other great players are asked to do damage when they get the ball and track back on occasion, defending is not their game.

so then it's not really a big deal that he leads the league in goals scored when he's only asked to play in one half of the pitch.

15 goals scored in the premier league.

FK: 4
Penalties: 3

So 8 from open play. All I'm saying is that it's not a big deal that he leads the league with 15 goals as a winger when he doesn't really play as a traditional winger.

It is a big deal, he still plays on the wing and spends a lot of his time towards the middle of the park. Strikers never track back and great players like Torres haven't scored as many as Ronaldo has....to score more than some of the best strikers in the world when you don't even play up front is always a big deal.
