Why is it surprising that Aldo declined? This guy doesn't want to fight. He's fought basically once a year for the last 5 years. He said he was going to "run through Conor like a truck with no brakes". He got slept in 13 seconds. Then he says he wants a rematch anytime anywhere. Then turns it down when it's offered. It's time you MMA guys see Aldo for what he is.

Edgar declined too. These are talkers. McGregor would fight them both on the same day. This dude is going up to 170 on short notice. No other fighter on the roster would do something like this when you have as much to lose as McGregor does. I have to respect that.

Yeah I'm surprised Aldo didn't jump at the chance for a rematch considering it was delayed due to Connor fighting in another weight class. Two weeks is short notice and apparently he isn't in shape which just sounds like he doesn't want it.

UFC not giving Aldo a full camp in preparation is a shame. Of course Aldo didn't take a fight on 11 days notice. Most champions if not all wouldn't if they weren't in shape or fight conditioning.

Also of course the UFC gave Conor the Nate fight instead of Cerrone. Gotta protect the investment as much as you can. Cerrone would take down Conor and eat him up there.

A 145 lb champion who beat the lb for lb #1 at the time fighting for the 155 lb belt 3 months later and now taking a 170 lb fight on 10 days notice. And he's being protected. From a guy his scheduled opponents are 3-0 against.

There is no way anyone, even Aldo's most rabid fans, could be surprised that the king of pulling out of fights declined a fight with a guy he doesn't really want any part of it.

Aldo knows he can not beat McGregor. He's going to talk the rest of his career about how he wants a shot at him but he'll never actually take the shot. If he ever does sign up for a rematch with Conor he'll just pull out like he has always done.
