I agree with you on this as well. He shouldn't make it seem like he's willing when he's clearly not. But that's who Aldo is. It's who he's always been.
And he absolutely deserves anything that's thrown his way because of it. I don't feel sorry for him in the least, or his fans.
What I find funny is for years Aldo held that division hostage fighting about once a year as the Champion. He wasn't fighting in other divisions like McGregor is now. He was just inactive. The vast majority of MMA fans (Aldo boot lickers) said nothing about it. McGregor's been the Champion for less than 3 months and these same people are up in arms demanding he defend his title soon.
This is the kind of irrational worship I'm talking about. They can't stand how good this guy is. They can't stand that he destroyed everything they thought they knew about the sport.
My stance on McGregor has always been he is untouchable at 145. The best ever. Now that he's fighting bigger men we shall see. There are some matchups at 155 and 170 that I think would be serious threats to him, but he is without a doubt one of the best talents in the history of the sport. He's also a throwback. He will truly fight anywhere, any time, against anyone.
And is there any question he's the biggest draw in the sport? I don't think there is. He could fight a broomstick and it'd do a million buys.
