He wanted to kitty cat slap at his hands and throw very few punches? It was over a minute and a half into the first round before either of them did more than just dance around each other.

He dominated a sissy. Big deal. I admit to being a neophyte or casual fan. There was nothing about that fight other than the commentator's glowing praise of Silva's past fights that was exciting. It was my first time to see the guy fight. I wish I had got my wish. I saw a lot of dancing, one guy afraid to fight standing up and another afraid to fight if the other guy was flat on his back.

Not impressed.

Well if you're trying to judge the guy by one fight, then that would be a big mistake. There's no doubt Silva's skills are impressive.

The matchup wasn't great, we agree on that, but that's Dana's responsibility.

If you're new to the sport then I understand how you can feel that way, but I saw nothing that hinted at Silva being scared. This isn't football where you make a mistake, there's another possession or another down.

You might not have gotten to see his best work, but considering he left the guy bloodied, bruised and humiliated, I think you got to see him fight especially when the other guy was doing everything in his power to avoid fighting.

If you didn't see the art in his knee strikes, his feints, avoiding the takedowns, amazing defense on the ground, his explosiveness, etc in that fight, then I don't know that you were paying attention.

It wasn't a slug fest, and everyone loves a good slugfest, but as far as technique, Anderson was impeccable, as always.

I have no doubt the guy is one impressive fighter. Last night he was not. Like I said, he "whipped" a sissy. Big deal.

I do admit he was slick in avoiding a couple of takedowns. He also was not interested in fighting the man while he was flat on his back.

Yawn.

Eh, I thought he was plenty impressive, I just don't think you enjoyed it because it was neither a slugfest or a jujitsu contest. Both were attempted and Silva did better at both.

There aren't many professional fighters that are going to jump on a guy on his back. If you're looking for a guy to blame for what you perceived as a boring match, Silva is the wrong one, that's all I'm saying.

Everyone knows Silva is a stand-up fighter, you pair him with a guy that wants to lay on the ground like a turtle, yeah, you might not make a lot of new fans. The reel Rampage posted doesn't even do him justice, you have to watch the way his mentally plots out a fight to appreciate him.

When Chuck Lidell, who is(was) the type of striker and brawler you would probably like says that Anderson was aggressive the whole fight, I think it's probably the truth.

I was under the impression that I have blamed both guys not singled out Silva.

George St. Pierre. He seemed the most well rounded in all arts. I also felt he beat a tremendous fighter in Penn. Someone who was dangerous and he went right at him.

St. Pierre is an amazing fighter, I think he's destined to fight Silva sooner or later if Dana is willing to put two of his stars on the line, that is.

Penn isn't in GSP's class though, since 2006, Penn is 3-3, George is 7-1.

You actually did single out Silva for most of your criticisms, but it doesn't matter anyway. If you thought it was boring then you thought it was boring.

You say he dominated a sissy, well Leites wasn't a sissy till he met Silva. He is a submission expert and Silva is a striker, not sure what they expected to happen.

There MIGHT be 1 or 2 people alive that could take Anderson Silva in a fight.

Because I have heard so much about him. He was going to drop my jaw he was so good.

Didn't happen. I think Leites was disgraceful.

I don't think Penn is in his class either. No one that I have seen so far is. I doubt he would have walked away from a fighter inviting him to the ground. I think he would have gone down there and annihilated Leites.

Perhaps I am wrong, but he was so well rounded and consistent that he has easily been the guy I was most impressed with.

no you're right St. Pierre woulda went to the ground cause that is also his strength. if you watched that highlight vid I posted on page 2 you'd see Anderson's strength is his striking from the standing position espcially in the thai clinch.

I watched it. It is impressive. He seemed like he wanted to put Leites away, but only if he could do it his way. I think it would have been more impressive to simply pu thim away whatever it took. 5 rounds against a guy who clearly did not want to fight was hard to watch.

BTW, the top 5 I've seen so far are probably these guys.

1. George St. Pierre...I've already stated why.

2. Lyota Machida...He put on a clinic. Never lost a round? Unreal. Thiago couldn't even hit him.

3. Fedor Emelianenko...pure explosion and devastating results.

4. Frank Mir...I kept hearing how Nogueira would dominate him. The exact opposite happened.

5. Rashad Evans...His fight with Griffin was great.
