I heard GSP walks around at 205 and Anderson walks around 215.

GSP may actually be better at 185 than welterweight. Maybe.

The only type of fighter I can see beating Anderson is a wrestler so thats why I said Dan Henderson.

Wanderlei at 185 would be interesting too.

If Machida doesn't win the 205 title than Anderson may eventually fight Reshad or Rampage for that title too.

None of the regular 185 guys can beat him though.

Does anyone know what weight Bisping and Henderson are going to fight at?
Wanderlei would get smashed by Anderson. he admitted Anderson used to ko him in training all the time when they were with chute boxe. I'm pretty sure that the Bisping-Hendo fight will be at 185.

I have no idea. I think it's gonna be a real boring fight early on(kinda lkike this Leites-Silva fight that just happened) cause neither guy likes to engage and it's for the title so both guys will be extra cautious. I just hope Rampage beats the crap out of the winner and gets his belt back.

both Rampages can kiss my behind!

Nah. GSP walks about 190-195 in between fights. GSP could walk more, but the guy is a health freak and almost refuses to put on extra weight even when he is not fighting.

Unless Rampage or Rashad bring back the wrestling skills they once had, their counter punching style will leave them a mess against Silva.

Maia would be an interesting matchup. I actually think he has guts enough to get inside to pull guard. And if he is able to pull guard, he can end the fight in the blink of an eye.

And not Wanderlei. I love Wanderlei, but unfortunately he would get Liddell'd. Meaning he would get a highlight reel KO loss. Wanderlei wants to brawl, get inside and be able to mix it up with his muay thai. Wanderlei doesn't have great technique either, which would spell death for him against Anderson.

Plus Anderson and Wandy are friends which means they will likely never fight.

I wish Tito was still around. Tito's wrestling and strength, plus his veteran ring ability would have made for a great matchup versus Anderson.

I still say give him Vera, then go to someone like Couture.

Anderson and Wanderlei are friends no longer. They no longer keep in contact and as a matter of fact Anderson was pissed when he heard Wanderlei was dropping to 185.

They have the same surname, grew up in the same Brazilian city and trained together for years at Chute Boxe. But things have changed, and destiny has put Wanderlei Silva and Anderson Silva on different sides.

“I always helped Wanderlei in training,” Anderson explained in a November 2007 interview with Tatame magazine. “We were really close.”

Anderson eventually left Chute Boxe, though, and in the Tatame interview he said that the team’s coach, Rudimar Fedrigo, forbid him from fighting in Pride, where Wanderlei was a champion.

“Wanderlei didn’t say anything to help me,” Anderson said. “He even knew that I had four children to raise. If it were not for ‘Minotauro’ putting pressure and bringing me to Pride, I would certainly be retired.”

At UFC 79 in December 2007, however, Anderson couldn’t hide his support for Wanderlei against Chuck Liddell. After the fight, he visited Wanderlei’s locker room with Lyoto Machida to congratulate him on a gutsy performance.

The Silvas in friendlier times.

“I’m free now, whenever you want to train,” said Wanderlei, who had also left Chute Boxe by then and was happy to have the support of Anderson and Machida.

But now the relationship has soured again. Fifteen months after they shook hands in the locker room, Anderson learned that Wanderlei is on his way to the UFC middleweight division, where Anderson is king.

In an interview with the popular Brazilian TV program Sensei Sportv that will air Saturday, Anderson said he doesn’t have any problem fighting his former training partner.

“How much do you weigh? So why are you going to get yourself in trouble?” Anderson asked of Wanderlei.

Anderson has his own answer to the question: He called Wanderlei’s move to 185 “pretentious.”

Asked to name five opponents that he considered ready to face him for a title shot, Anderson didn’t include Wanderlei or Wanderlei’s new training partner, Demian Maia. In fact, he had a message for Maia too: “Saying that you will beat me up or submit me is very easy, but there have been people trying to do that for some time and are not reaching their goal, Demian.”

Anderson also confirmed during the Sensei Sportv interview that he plans on more fights as a light heavyweight. He dismissed the possibility of fighting Machida, whom he considers a close friend and the best fighter in the weight division.
Wanderlei countered with this:

http://mmamania.com/2009/04/18/wanderlei-silva-declares-war-on-cocky-anderson-silva/
“I thought it was excellent being quoted by the champion without having had a fight in (Anderson’s) division. It’s a sign that I’m already bothering him. Nobody kicks a tree that is not able to give fruits…. He is too cocky. I hope he can read this. … I never talked anything bad about him; I always respected him. He has always been my friend, always respected me, but now he came with that statement. I can’t understand that. I didn’t come down to 185 to face him. Actually I didn’t have that intention. … Changing divisions and fighting the champion would be too pretentious. I should have to have many fights before facing him, but concerning his last statements, I think the way is open and the war is declared. If he beats Thales, we will meet and we will see if he will be able to do everything he says. … He knows me; I know him. We trained a lot together. He knows my failures, but I also know his failures, and I know nobody has given him a hard time. Nobody has beaten his face badly. I believe the future is pretty promising. Let’s wait and see.”
Former 205-pound Pride FC wrecking machine Wanderlei Silva has not taken kindly to recent statements made by current UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva, which referred to the “Axe Murderer” as “pretentious” for deciding to move down to middleweight. Now Wanderlei — who used to train alongside Anderson in the glory days of Chute Boxe — wants to beat his face badly for talking about him. Sounds like we got some serious beef brewing … who wants to see it settled inside the Octagon?

I agree that this would be a murder. Wanderlei's aggressive style plays right into what Anderson looks for. It would be a spectacular ESPN worthy KO. I also don't foresee Wanderlei being able to string together enough wins to be considered a legit contender.

Wanderlei is like Chuck, big name fighter who's skills have diminished If it wasn't for the UFC mw division being so poor he'd probably never even get a title shot

I like Wanderlei, if nothing else his fights are exciting (Rather he's fighting tough, KOing someone, or getting KOed) but his style would play right into Anderson's strengths and Wanderlei would be seeing himself KOed again.

He really doesn't want any part of Anderson Silva like he thinks he does.

Wanderlei used to KO Silva as well.

Silva is the one crying because Wanderlei moved down in weight.

Basically scru Silva and his fan boys. Wake me up when he actually lands a good punch again.

He doesn't want to fight Wanderlei because Wanderlei will actually throw punches with him.

And to whomever above was talking about ground games... Leites is good on the ground but he couldn't fend off Silva's GnP if Silva ever sacked up and tried it. The one time he did he looked like an actual MMA fighter not a friggin dance instructor.

And FWIW I have been calling Silva overrated for quite a while including in all threads here where he is deemed some P4P champ as if he ever fought anyone at any other weight since he wss losing in Pride matches.

185 is the worst weight class in MMA right now and Silva is by far the best of those guys but he needs to man up and go fight people.

Otherwise there will be far more chants of "BORRRRING".

lol. This dude has had wars with Rampage, Cro Cop and Liddell. He isn't scared of a 182 pound Silva.

Of course he wants Silva, its a big money fight and a chance to win a title that no one else can take because the division is total crud. At least half the top 10 185s fight outside the UFC and even with them it is a weak weight division.

If this was 5 years ago I'd agree with you that he likes wars. That war with Chuck will turn out to be for him, much like it did for Chuck. A last big time performance.

Since then he quickly KOed Jardine, who while good is so up and down its impossible to decide rather he's elite. One fight he's getting his *** kicked by Houston Alexander (Who btw has won exactly 1 fight since KOing Jardine), then taking it to Liddell, only to be crushed by Silva, then looking piss poor in a boring fight against Vera, and then getting beaten by Ramp.

Other than that the only thing he's done is get Koed, quickly, by Ramp. Unfortunately for Silva, much like Chuck, he's gotten older, he's not as quick as he once was, and while tough he still doesn't have the chin that he used to, just like Chuck doesn't, and as it's been pointed out many times on fight cards once you get legit Ko'ed it becomes increasingly easier and easier to have that happen again. Silva has been KO'ed on more than one occassion in his career and, just like with Chuck now, it's one of those things that will be easier and easier for quality strikers to accomplish against him.

5 or so years ago this would be an absolutely outstanding, brawl, of a wonderful fight. Now I truly believe it would go very much like the Silva/Ramp fight went with Silva getting quickly KO'ed by Anderson.

But that would be good for Anderson cause it would get some of the fans off his back for these last two fights that were boring. It's not like his whole UFC career has been boring fights. It was barely a year ago that he was having an exciting fight, and finish, against Dan Henderson, whose no slouch.

Also he has fought at 205 once in the UFC as well. Though Irvin isn't exactly on anyones short list of amazing fighters, Anderson did rock his world and KO him.

And one other thing I'd think Silva is exactly the kind of fighter that Anderson would like to fight right now because Silva will throw against him, he will push the pace, and that will allow Anderson to do what he does best which is counter and get into those Tai clinches.

Silva is the kind of guy that will show no fear in coming after him and that would be one of the reasons I believe that Anderson would quickly KO him.

I never heard Wandy used to ko Anderson. bet you haven't either and are just making it up. also Wandy's style plays right into what Anderson wants to do. Anderson wants some over aggressive sloppy striker like wand to come at him so he can counter-punch the crap out of him.
