you ever wonder about how many fossils there actually are? If you take all the animals on earth today, that is a whole bunch. If you take all the animals for "millions of year", that number is incalculable. You have floods, and landscape changes, mudfloods, volcanic eruptions, that would put layers of soil over the fossils in certain areas, but you should be able to dig and easily find stuff, at least from the past 100 generations

I dont know, just something i think about. If you actually find a fossil from millions of years ago, you would think it would have 500 skeletons on top of it. Shows how much land there really is, or how much time has really passed

I would like a map of fossils and where they are found
Fossils aren't easily preserved. It requires a certain set of conditions. Finding groups of fossils together requires they all died at the same time, under the same conditions, which I'm sure is a very rare occurrence.

I think most people believe that with the billions and billions of planets out there that some of them are most certainly inhabited by intelligent life. And that some of them have traveled to other galaxies and planets Earth being one of them. They’ve been visiting Earth for quite some time. The question I have is what is their intention? Why do they not try a new make contact?

Anyone have any ideas?
Are you familiar with the Drake Equation and Fermi Paradox. Interesting stuff.

IMO, if they take the the time and effort to visit, its most likely because they are in fact us. There are alot of people that believe that.

What do you mean they are us? Never heard that one

I assume he means future humans, back to either study the past or change it.
Or possibly a group of humans who live on a different planet, come to visit their cousins.
if time travel was possible the universe would have long since been destroyed by those wishing to change things to suit them. At a certain point the abilities of those trying to do that would pretty much destroy all.

IF Time Travel was possible things like the Holocaust would not have happened. And so on.

I will start with the caveat that our understanding of possible life on other planets is limited by our own experiences here on earth. We do not know what we do not know. Our minds tend to think in the construct of what humans have experienced here on earth.

I once subscribed to the theory that there are an infinite number of planets in the universe, therefore, there must be intelligent life on an infinite number of planets in the universe. And this still may be true. It is hard to imagine a universe with so many planets and life only began on 1.

On the other hand, just because there is life on other planets does not mean it would be easy for them, no matter how intelligent, to find us. It would be like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack and the haystack is the size of a large planet. Also, the nearest planets capable of supporting life, as we know it, are many light years away. So let's say there is intelligent life on a planet 200 light years from earth. That's 200 years to get here traveling at the speed of light, which according to Einstein is not possible. Perhaps beings smarter than us have figured out a way around that. Perhaps traveling through wormholes is possible, or bending space and time is possible. It is still such a difficult problem to solve. Still, the universe is very old and there are many planets older than earth so we can assume that on some planets life began before life on earth and that life on those planets is more evolved. It is also possible beings may have developed that are just smarter than humans.

The question is, a species that is capable of interstellar travel, having overcome all the issues with relativity, is probably nothing like humans. How could we even hope to understand how they think, what culture they developed, or their societal norms. Every concept of human behavior gets thrown out the window. If you want to know why they are here, and why they have not made formal contact, how could we possibly answer those questions not knowing anything about them?

I don't know if UFOs are real, but I lean towards no, simply because the problems of interstellar space travel are so difficult to solve and the vastness of space is so incomprehensible. Also, think about this, the radio was invented in the late 1800s and serious radio transmissions did not begin for many years after that. That means a planet 200 light years from earth would still not yet receive our radio transmissions. How would they even know we are here? I can't explain the UFO sightings we are seeing recently, but I am inclined to believe it is something other than space travelers from a distant planet.

Then again, if some alien races has figured out how to manipulate gravity, then they could literally bend space making interstellar travel possible.

For a while I had a client who was a German scientist. I wish I could repeat his explanation, because it made a ton of sense. In essence, he explained to me that when conditions are right, life happens. Yes, it was much more complicated and I'm not capable of repeating it w/o some major rote memorization.

I agree w/ a ton of what you're saying. However, one of the theories is that life here might have begun from matter contained in comets that have hit the earth. So, it's really hard to say if life elsewhere would be remarkably similar or the same. I agree, we do not know.

If they have observed humankind, our inability to get along and penchant for wanting to go to war with any beings different from us would be a deterrent to coming face to face. What are the odds of confrontation with a species that is ever at war with their own kind?

If they are there and that could be a mixed bag of "they's", I wonder how they view earthlings as a threat? I wonder if the alarm was set off when we first accomplished space travel, just around our own planet? Did we get on their "watch list" once we made it to the moon.

Humans are too proprietary to co-exist with another species. We think everything belongs to us and are responsible for assisting the natural order in the extinction of other life forms here.

Hell, if we found life on another planet, Bezos would be trying to get them to add their shipping addresses to Amazon.

As far as them conquering us, them getting here doesn't mean they'd be able to bring huge armies over.

You imagine the absolute havoc actually encountering life forms from another world here? There are hundreds of millions of people with their lives rooted in long term beliefs which do not have beings from another world in them, they believe we are the universe. Mess with that and we've got major problems. If they'll kill those that are not like them just because they are not like them, what do you think they're going to try to do to space jockeys?

If aliens are as smart as we think they are, they'll stay out of sight. The most realistic part of "Independence Day" was when they asked people to stop firing at the ships.

But how advanced would their weapons systems be? We have enough here, of our own, to completely destroy this planet many times over. And one guy with his finger on the button could start that.

If they initiated contact and weren't "discovered", we could approach that more open handed.

Reminds me of either a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits program where they showed up and we're all hugs and kisses and even had a book, "How to Serve Your Fellow Man". It was a cookbook.

Yup. So, it really comes down to what they want. Destroying all life would most likely make this planet uninhabitable. So, prolly no reason for that. Lucky for us!!!!

None prove that they are UFOs from space
Unidentified flying objects are most likely made by humans .

Except they exceeded the laws of physics as we understand them. Watch a few and you will be convinced. Naval pilots who understand physics and aerodynamics were baffled.
