Somehow, I don't think he stays retired. In the meantime we've got a QB mess of our own: Romo's contract & no backup other than Matt Baker. We need to be proactive with the QB situation. We must cover ourselves in the event that Romo was a one year wonder--that means a backup who can actually play for more than a game or three. Also, we need to draft a QB with some major potential, we really blew it last year by not taking Charlie Whitehurst out of Clemson. How do you guys see this mess getting starightened out? Please, don't bring up the name Brad Johnson as part of any solution. Thoughts?

sorry we dont have a qb mess.

We will sign one of the backups. I hope we hold out till the middle of this week and sign harrington, but ramsey was officially released yesterday so he could be brought in this week sometime.

We are far from a mess.

Agreed.

No rush. The supply is plentiful and there isn't any one player who is head and shoulders better than the rest.

That's why they are backups.

We need to focus our energies towards getting this offensive line mess fixed.

I agree with you. Our QB situation is far from a mess. Romo is set and I believe we'll bring in Harrington since JG is so familiar with him. Harrington is young and played decent ball with JG coaching him. He said JG was the best coach he's ever had.

It doesn't even have to be Harrington (and really can't since he's techinically still a Dolphin) as there are several candidates who are all about the same.

People like Kerry Collins, Brad Johnson and Tim Rattay are all limited backups who could be very attainable, just like Harrington.

Worry about backup quarterback after you get an offensive line in front of your starter.

Then get Romo signed. I'm content to wait for Harrington if that's what actually happens. We MUST draft a quality QB too. Problems solved.

Then let's get Romo signed, he's not "set" yet. I like this scenario.

I couldn't agree more with the statement in bold. I am so tired of these threads.

"Brad Johnson, cut by the Vikes, could end up as the backup in Dallas or Denver." - New York Daily News, http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/502432p-423730c.html

Well, don't blame me. Blame the NY Daily News. :)

"It appears Brad Johnson has emerged as Denver's top choice as a backup quarterback. Johnson, 38, is set to visit Denver on Saturday, his agent, Phil Williams, said." - DenverPost.com, http://test.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_5343149

Question. If the Denver Post is correct, why would an offensive minded coach such as Mike Shanahan even consider backing up his young talented quarterback, Jay Cutler, with an old, tired, can't-throw-20-yards quarterback like Johnson?

hmm...

Plummer's "rights" belong to the buccs so if he came out of retirement it would mean he is still a bucc, just like that Barry Sanders situation a few many years back he wanted to come back but the he was still under contract with the lions

He avoided violating any rules by inserting the name of a quarterback who can't throw 20 yards into his post. I wish the mods would close that nasty little loophole.

i think if a mod changes it it will be and it will be promptly moved to the OFf-topic Arena (where many of Philo's threads are located now a days):

Tim Couch, Dave Ragone, David Carr--Other Ideas *< Means Ricky Ray >*

Wow, I thought this thread was actually going to have something to do with Plummer. Hasn't he gotten enough feedback on this issue yet?

Oh really? I guess we actually have to have QB's to have a QB mess. LOL.

Harrington, Carr, Ramsey or Couch (if he's ready medically) remain my choices.
