Whatever you say, brother. :)
Good enough then. Look for Ramsey or Harrington to be a Cowboy soon--not Johnson. At least I hope so. LOL

I never suggested Plummer as a backup for Romo, the title of this thread was changed.

philo beddoe;1405481 said:
He must have lost his friggin' mind.

Oh, not until next year bro. 2008 will be the year for Ricky Ray.

philo beddoe;1405490 said:
We don't have anyone. That's a problem. Even Romo needs a new contract.

Who are you talking to? I never suggested Plummer. I don't like Plummer.

philo beddoe;1405521 said:
Sure, let's take our sweet time. No worries, Bubby Brister should still be available come July. LOL. Unbelievable.

philo beddoe;1405532 said:
Yes, it's quite obvious.

Fetish? LOL. Just a very legit concern, friend.:D
This is such a wonderful feature. A shame perfectly good technology doesn't get used by special posters.

I see a lot of backup calibre QBs getting signed left and right. How could we fail to get into such an important sweepstakes?

Then why'd you put his name in the original thread title?

If you want to start a backup QB thread, then say that. But if you put the name of the QB in the thread title, then that suggests that that's who you like as a potential backup.

bored out of my mind, Crown.

No 'boys news...and nothing on TV. I think I've watched NFL Network's Scouting Combine coverage 100 times.

Watch the history channel in 5 min. 'The Dark Ages' is on, looks to be really interesting.

I would watch it if I weren't in a small hotel room in Los Angeles and kinda working, doing laundry & watching TNT :-(

Remember you're on pacific time and I'm on central.

I found Law & Order CI on Bravo...bout to turn on CBS for cold case.

It's bad when there's not even a decent college b-ball game on. Jazz & Hornets don't excite me.

Somehow, I don't think he stays retired. In the meantime we've got a QB mess of our own: Romo's contract & no backup other than Matt Baker. We need to be proactive with the QB situation. We must cover ourselves in the event that Romo was a one year wonder--that means a backup who can actually play for more than a game or three. Also, we need to draft a QB with some major potential, we really blew it last year by not taking Charlie Whitehurst out of Clemson. How do you guys see this mess getting starightened out? Please, don't bring up the name Brad Johnson as part of any solution. Thoughts?

For every FA out there willing to go into training camp to compete for a starting job there are the prima donas, who, despite their eroding skills still want to go into a guaranteed starter job.

That diminishes the "available" QB out there for us.

Plummer, Harrington, Carr, Garcia, Johnson and the like don't want to go into assigned jobs as backups. Like Bledsoe, they see themselves as stars who want to drive the bus and not be a passenger who might one day take the wheel. And forgive the weak metaphor.

Far from being a mess, it's still a big question mark at the most important position in football. The best we can hope for is a Harrington or Johnson right now because I don't see too many takers to a backup spot to a "second-year" player Romo.

It doesn't even have to be Harrington (and really can't since he's techinically still a Dolphin) as there are several candidates who are all about the same.

People like Kerry Collins, Brad Johnson and Tim Rattay are all limited backups who could be very attainable, just like Harrington.

Worry about backup quarterback after you get an offensive line in front of your starter.
Johnson or rattay would be nice, Collins is too eratic, you never know what you're gonna get.
