We still had Glover, Ellis, Newman, Williams, Dat, Coakley, and Woodson. Willie Blade and Singleton did not play crappy. They played within their responsibilities. Our defense was way better than Houston's. Oh by the way our #1 Defense got shredded by both the Eagles and Dolphins for 40 plus points. Good defenses do not give up that many points. Our defense was the equivalent to the Bears defense of this year. Being number 1 in stats can be misleading.

So we had an average DE
a rookie CB
some small LBs everyone wanted gone and an aging FS (who I wish we had now)

We did not have talent level of someone like Pitt

This season we were tied for 8th in sacks

16th in turnover margin

12 in points allowed (19.2 pg)

10th in total D

None of this is close to the bottom of the league sorry.

and all of this was done in his first year to ever run a 34 def.

Damn thats pretty good. I guess I need to ****.

True but the turd comment was about the Texans. They have no talent at all whatsoever. Caper's zone defense was not going to work with that group.

real numbers kick ***, instead of listening to the likes of wolvering shout how we are last at everything. Never listen to him cause 99.9% of the time its wrong

It wasn't him. Watching the games it seems like we can't get to the quarterback sometimes. I guess my assessment was wrong though.

not totally, Parcells spoke of the need to get sacks in the 4th quarter of games

but considering the circumstances, that's understandable: one pass-rusher among 4 LBs in Ware, and then that unfamiliarity factor

We go thru spells where we seem not to be able to get to the QB, but all teams do. Look at Washington D who everyone likes, week 2 not 1 sack against us and our OLine.

Also look past pure numbers Ware had 8 sacks which is good for a rookie but then add on 19 QB pressures then you go damn thats pretty good

that's hard to do when you have little, to no talent on D

what are you talking about "little to no talent"? this defense has had quality guys for years.... Zimmer has never had an aggressive defense, not ever! talent, no talent, doesn't matter.
Howmany years are we gonna give this guy a free ride. Are you not tired of seeing QBs like McNabb take 13 seconds and still complete a deep ball?
I personally am tired of seeing cb's playing 20 yards off the receiver "because Zimmer is afraid of getting burned deep". I am tired of seeing 3 guys on the line while WRs still catch the ball. I am tired of seeing us getting burned by those damn slant patterns. I am tired of all those damn prevent defenses.

You can bring up Houston and its defense. Sure, but I am sure there is a difference from being a def. coordinator and a head coach. Some coaches make better coordinators. I am sure you heard that one before.
And yes I would love to see Dom Capers do here what he did in Pittsburgh. That is the defense this 3-4 could be with the talent that is there.
