I wish more people understood this.

It is a coping device. Just like overeating, it is not organic despite people trying to say it is. If you become "addicted", it is a byproduct of behavior. It's psychologicaly addicting.
I believe it is and if it the case substance abuse and bi-polar disorder go hand and hand. It can be controlled but only if the person wants to get help and utilizes it. I hope for his sake he can do this and be a productive citizen in his community.I think his mental issues (I believe he has been diagnosed bi-polar) are contributing to this. It is a damn shame.
Unfortunately weed is addictive to some people. I knew people who smoke when they was young and still do. They could never give it up. It was costing them jobs and legal issues. That is why I didn't want the Cowboys to draft him.
Dude obviously cares more about drugs than football. I smoke and I could quit if I really needed or wanted to. It's not the addiction, he just doesn't care.

Punishing people for having depression/bipolar disorder by pushing them into isolation and making them feel even less about themselves is probably the worst possible approach you can implement.
So you smoked 14 years but then quit. So couldn't people say of you during those 14 years you were weak minded?I smoked herb quite heavily for about 14 years and quit without any issue in the least......Dude is just weak minded.
