NFL will stop testing for it within the year and then he SHOULD be reinstated. keep him, it costs nothing.
It's neither intelligence or wisdom.
It's much more complex. Unfortunately many people can't empathize with others and need to find explanations that fit into boxes that already exist in their minds.
Its how we can drive past homeless people who most likely have mental disorders and numb ourselves to the reality of their situations. Or how we can ignore that 60% of people in prison have serious mental disorders.
You are under the mistaken impression the NFL gives a rat's azz about the players. It's $$$ and public relations, which is just another form of $$$.

Sad to throw away a promising career to smoke some devils lettuce....
lol I want to pull for him just to spite you. Get over yourself
And obese people are not addicted to food they are just stupid right?
And sexaholics are not addicted to sex they are just stupid.
Or gamblers or opioid abusers, all just stupid??
I disagree. The NFL should not be responsible to ensure that a player gets treatment. It should come down to the team honestly. The NFL's handing of this situation looks really really really bad.
It was obvious to everyone that this was a mental health issue... what he needed more than anything was more interaction with his team, and a positive, structured environment... not banishment from the league.
I just pray nothing truly serious happens to Randy, that blood will be on Goodell's hands.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/numbers-mental-illness-behind-bars/would like a source for that 60% figure.

It's psychologicaly addicting.well it's not physically addicting like heroin or nicotine but it's habitually addicting...add to the fact that he has bipolar issues and weed seems to be the thing that helps him the most, it was very unlikely he was ever going to quit.
We can pick apart the study ( there are various studies done)... but shouldn't the focus be on why people are being punished instead of treated? You can't punish mental illness out of someone. Just like you can't punish Randy Gregory into getting better....the league is being ran with the same mindset we use to run our prisons. Punishment over treatment.interesting. BUT when I got to the actual study I noticed that as usual the journalist exaggerated some things. Mainly on what is considered a SERIOUS mental illness from minor mental illness. The SERIOUS percentage was a lot lower but even digging into the study it was hard to figure out. Probably about half that number. And since some fairly questionable 'problems' are included like problems with eating that are nowhere near either binging or purging or anorexia the conclusions of that study are a little off I think. There is a serious problem with the truly mentally ill in prisons but it is not anywhere near as big as 60%
No sympathy for stupid people.. it's not like weed is addicting...or is it? Maybe it's just certain people have that flaw where they become addicted to something. I've neve had that problem.
