I'm at work. At home I could go right to the page. I am 100% positive Aikman was a Sr. and so was Rodney Peete. I remember the Heisman hype out here in Pac 10 country.ABQCOWBOY said:Link Hos.

Milestones
1984
Aikman is invited to a summer football camp at Oklahoma University. Head coach Barry Switzer offers him a scholarship on the spot. Aikman accepts.
1985
Aikman breaks his ankle in the fourth game of his sophomore season at OU. Jamelle Holieway takes over at quarterback and leads Oklahoma to the national championship.
1986
With Holieway established as the starting quarterback at OU, Aikman decides to transfer to UCLA. He's required to sit out the 1986 season.
1987
Aikman is named UCLA's starting QB the day before the 1987 season opener against San Diego State.
1989
Aikman finishes his UCLA career with a 20-4 record and a victory over Arkansas in the 1989 Cotton Bowl. As a Bruin, Aikman completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 5,298 yards and 41 touchdowns. He finished his career as the third-rated passer in NCAA history.

I don't begrudge them at all...I think they foolishly miss the boat in life. Since most of these guys do indeed fail to live up to their potential in the NFL, what I'm saying is they should have a wider/longer vision. Being successful in one's career will bring more money over the long haul.The_Jackal said:A sensible response but this is a bit harsh and idealistic. This is life afterall, so why should we begrudge people who come from relatively modest backgrounds wanting to provide financial security for themselves and their families?
Not a doubt in my mind Aikman was the Cowboys guy regardless of who captained the ship. In fact, I told my Grandmother we would long before the season was over.joseephuss said:I often wonder if Tex and Tom would have drafted Aikman. Seemed like the logical choice, but it is possible that those two could have gone a different direction. Especially with the great Steve Peuller already on the team.![]()

Doomsday101 said:That was the 1st year underclassmen were allowed to enter the draft but it was also the year that the NFL would place an age limit which is what hurt Clarett

TheHustler said:Um. That would be EVERY OTHER QB taken.
If you're not a junior, you're a senior.
Off the top of my head:
Peyton and Eli Manning
Palmer
Rothlesburger
We also took a senior QB in the first that ended up being pretty good....
Doomsday101 said:This artical is not about Bledsoe only showing how QB who were underclassmen have faird since they were allowed to enter the drafter in 1989.
abersonc said:Actually, it states "None of the 14 appears headed for the Professional Football Hall of Fame" -- and I said that might not be an accurate statement.
What, you don't like me picking apart an article that supports what you want to say?
Doomsday101 said:I don't care if you pick it apart but it was not about Bledsoe per say, yes he was mentioned in the artical and if you want to pick apart an artical that is your choice. I guess the writer put in the word "appears" for a reason.
