Video: Undisputed FS1: Rod Woodson on Dez: "We rolled coverage over to him"

Seems to me that the Cowboys lack the elite QB and elite WR combination while paying elite money for half of that. They also do not have a top 10 QB/receiving corps hence the need for a top 3 run game just to stay competitive.

2018 could possibly be the last season we see Bryant, Beasley and Witten in a Cowboys uniform and see the need to draft a QB....high. There's a lot on the line this season for not only the coaches but the players and the team as a whole. The needs list in 2019 may be dramatically different.

Those wanting to bid farewell to Dez, want to spend that 1st on a WR with the other needs this team has? Because that is exactly what Booger will want to do. Think that sets the development of the QB back with a rookie #1WR? Like him or not, the success of this season depends a lot on Dez stepping up and this route guru talk is feeding that as is his defensive attitude with the negativity of some fans. It is time to put up and shut up, if this team is even to sniff the playoffs.

If you want to laser in on just that ONE point I mentioned, ok. I expect an 8 year veteran who whined all game long for the ball to come his way to NOT hold the ball like a loaf of bread.
The instinct to protect the ball should just be internal and automatic. It's fine that you're OK with and don't think it's an issue, but it was the worst possible timing. That turnover was bush league and led to a TD the other way. We were winning and momentum was with us. There was a chance for the post season.

Youre too emotional over 1 fumble, you have to look at the bigger picture, over his career dez hasnt been a dropper or fumbler.

If he has a year like last year then i would be right with you but as of now i still believe him on the team guves us the better chance for success.

Zero emotion. None. That was the icing on the crap cake. He was a complete mess and was a significant part in that loss. And I'm not hating on him, that was a horrible performance physically and mentally. He melted down. Period.

I hope he returns to his 2014 form. We need it.

Zero emotions? Id hate to see if you did get emotional. Lol. Some of you guys paint yourself into such a corner that if dez has a bounce back year you cant even enjoy it. The reason is because it would make you look bad, before you say thats not case, trust me you will look bad if dez has a great year. Youve cross the threshold of "as long as it helps the cowboys" into i want this guy off the team no matter what. Whats that called? Hate.

Are you thick? I JUST posted I hope he returns to his 2014 form. Which means I wish him the bet regardless if I think he screwed the pooch last season. You Dezzies have your head in the sand. Nothing you or anyone on an internet forum is going to make me the least bit emotional, lol. that's funny. Believe what you want, since you think you can decipher emotion from text. Look bad? Lol. I couldn't possibly care less.

Frankly, the numbers for years supported Dez not having to concern himself with route perfection. Would better routes have made him a better receiver?
Guys who want to be great concern themselves with everything. Dez has been riding his athleticism for years. The numbers and the eyeball test tell you that his athleticism isn't what it once was.

Certainly if his route running improves, he can be a productive #1. It probably would help being on another team, both for the coaches and QB. But he really doesn't belong in a discussion of the elite WRs anymore, and hasn't since 2015.

That’s what I don’t understand about these guys. They will argue and argue defending a player against underperformance and wishes for improvement. Then when improvement occurs (which they typically argue against to deflect blame) they will try to rub it in your face as an “I told you so”. However, that would be exactly what most “haters” want. The only way that would work is if someone were claiming Dez can’t do anything in the future, but the past can’t be changed. Even if he bounces back, it won’t make his 2017 season look any better. That is the books.

No. You're way too emotional.

It would effect the WR's in regard to Daks poor passes, like I've posted 1,000 times but for some reason the Dezzies can't comprehend that. But it's not an excuse for the meltdowns, whining, pouting, drops and fumbles.

You're watching a football player on a television and getting emotional off what you can discern ("he's pouting, whining....") off the screen.

Ain't that rich.

You're going on and on, repeating the same BS about emotion from text that you're reading. Hypocritical much? Maroon level 8.

While I agree Dak had some bad games and bad throws, It's simply not all his fault. 2015 Dak wasn't even here. Dez couldn't stay healthy. 2016, Dak had a fantastic rookie season and we went 13-3. Seems "somehow" we managed. This past season the O line was garbage at times and we were missing Elliott. All things factor in.
Stating that Dez will be what he was 4 seasons ago with another QB is a wild guess.

Will Dez somehow catch balls that hit his hands and not have childish meltdowns simply by switching QBs? Nope! The problem didn't just "arise," it's been there.

But keep blaming the QB. Reminds me of Romo getting the blame for every thing years ago because he smiled on the sideline, wore a hat backward and vacationed an hours flight away. Idiotic.

Its not nearly the same thing. Dez did drop some balls last year that he normally wouldnt, you get no argument from me there. He has to be able to rise above the frustration, BUT, there was not a drop off until Weeden, Cassel, and Dak. Yes Dak was cool the first year, but he left a bunch of points on the board by being a first read QB. He didnt let plays develop. Dez still has plenty of ability. Out of the 4 issues with the passing game (QB, Dez, Playing Calling, Coaching up) Dez's drop off is about 15% of the problem. As it has been stated...Let Dez go to Greenbay, Phili, New Orleans, San Fran, just see how much his "athleticism" has left him. He would execute us.

He just said Dak didn’t look at Williams (don’t blame him either). People keep wanting Dez gone need to turn that focus on Williams.
Butler was out that game but Woodson seemed to think he would have been a threat.

Woodson definitey seemed to be dissing TWill.

It's sad that the best and the worst of Dez is displayed by the changing of QB's..... It's true he has a limited route tree. It wouldn't be a problem if you knew how to throw him open..... Tony could do it well and make him look great..... Dak not so much. This is not a knock on Dak, but somewhere both Dak and Dez need to work on such, if fixing this is not an option, then one need to go..... Plain and simple.... I really hope they both work to compliment each other this off season.... Hell maybe practice together, who knows, it might make you both better with a few others helping you.... LOL Either way after 3 seasons of poop, one will be let go..... Hope it is the right one.....
