I say let the season unfold first. There is no reason to start throwing money at Dak right now.
"Team Friendly" is very subjective.
A team friendly deal could be one that's easy on the salary cap in year 1 and 2 so the team can sign other players who are nearing the end of their rookie contract.
A team friendly deal could also be "less than market value" and I cannot see any player doing that unless they have already cashed in on multiple post-rookie contracts like Tom Brady who also is married to a wealthy spouse.
I'm with you. Unless he's willing to take a reasonable deal to get paid right now, I'll exercise my right to play out the contract and franchise tag him in 2020.
All this talk of quarterback contracts "going up and up and up" is short-sighted. Apparently, some people don't realize that none of the top 6 highest paid quarterbacks appeared in the playoffs last year? Or that the majority of teams overpaying are perennial losers who you wouldn't want to imitate anyway? Or that the teams that are overpaying would love to get out of these deals if they could?
At some point, a team has to be smart and draw a line and let their quarterback walk if they have to. And as much as I like Dak, there's probably not a single team better set up to be able to do that than this one. Top defense, top running game, top offensive line, quality receiving corps, there isn't an offense set up to help the quarterback more than this one.

Exactly......just me but I get the impression Stephen's thinking how the contract is structured. I don't they'd have no problem paying him what he's worth ( market suggest ) as long it gives the team X amount of flexibility to restructure and sign other future players. Like DLaw, I think fans/media will blow this out of proportion. Other words, I don't think this deal is going to be as hard as some make think. Why......coz BOTH Dak and FO want this to happen but in a way that helps/protects the team.
This is it exactly. If they get one done now, it'll be more team friendly. If I'm Dak, I take it, too. Guaranteed money, that still makes you rich, is far better than potential money down the road. You're one bad snap away from never making anther dime.
So if you watched the DeMarcus Lawrence presser today..
we heard all the statements from Tank about wanting to do.a deal thar was fair and that he knew the team needed money for other talent to help him.
No doubt that will be the theme with all our coming signings.
Wonder who might depart from that mantra and demand top position money like Earl Thomas did?
Dak should be paid according to where he fits in the overall picture. Is he a top 5 QB? A top 10? Is he the reason the offense wins games?
The values are set. It is easy to get a range. If Dak accepts the lower range it is team friendly. Or the structure could make it team friendly.
The thing that freaks people out is Said deal might set a new team record and be the highest deal in thel league That is simply because the guys ahead of him haven't had their deals redone yet.
I agree.I think Zeke could play hard ball
I agree.
Zeke knows how the team leans on him..
whatever DAK gets..
Zeke will want more.
And will deserve it.
Just like #9s ego, right? Where was the "team friendly" deal there...during both big contract re-signings?
It's always nice to see an intellectually overmatched buffoon like Shannon Sharpe expose his agenda and hypocrisy. Suddenly, he's barking out numbers showing what a great three years Prescott has had after bashing him at every turn? Yeah, your slip is showing.
I am like the rest of us.I don't think Zeke will get more than Dak because RB's aren't as highly valued. I do see him holding out for top payed RB in the NFL. More than Gurley and Bell
